I'm actually feeling a bit silly now as I introduced myself by creating a new topic!!
Don't feel silly – that's exactly the way we prefer to see things done in Insomnia Land. New member = New introduction = New topic.
You did good!
'lisajane.7' wrote:Martin, as you say you research sleep etc, have you read the theory that we are designed to sleep 4 hours than wake for a couple then go back to sleep for 4 hours!
I have – and it's certainly very interesting.
Take a look at this blog post from last year:

October 29, 2012 at 11:10 pm #8910I think that was a similar if not the same article I read Martin. You know it's quite strange but you get very intelligent people and artists of all forms who say that their best ideas or most successful works are during a night wake up!! Makes me feel better even if it isn't true!! Lol
The problem with me is from my early teens I was a sleeper, all I seem to do was sleep if I wasn't at school, I was just so tired all the time, especially in the winter and I was told I almost certainly had SAD (seasonal affective disorder).
I am so interested in the link between mental health and sleep??? Because due to me being diagnosed with Graves' disease (over active thyroid) that was causing the insomnia and mental health problems, now do I blame the thyroid or not, it's not under control but I have had a period of a couple of months early this year when I slept and woke reasonably normally!!!
Question questions??
Thanks for you reply

December 9, 2014 at 2:55 am #8914Leon – I don't have insomnia anymore since I used the techniques I talk about in the sleep training to improve my sleep.
I should update my post to make this clearer, though – thank you for bringing this to my attention and for allowing me to clear up any potential confusion.
