primaryantagonist✘ Not a client
yes, i've been to devon and cornwall! they're wonderful! i stayed in tintagel for awhile, looking for king arthur, etc. small town, but incredible views! made it to North Wales once and that was really something, but haven't seen much of “the north”. i love the severn bridge!
as for starting the magazine, i think it was easier at 15 because there was no one to tell us how hard it was. it just wasn't. we don't advertise, either, so that makes things a lot simpler. but i imagine it must be hard to start a social networking site! 😉
primaryantagonist✘ Not a clientHi! Yep, have always written my best stuff at night. I'm just more awake? I wonder if it's hereditary, actually, because my mom and my uncle are the same. What do you think?
I've been doing the magazine for nine years this year (since I was 15 — and started in the middle of one sleepless night!)and it's going really well! It's a lot of fun, and I think it's just what I'm cut out for. There's nothing else I'm so comfortable with — I'd love to make it into a career. I guess it is in some ways, but it doesn't pay and it probably never will. Still! You can't do things just for the money! 😉
Yes, my husband is Welsh — kind of! He grew up in Brixton, so he has the weirdest accent. It's kind of Welsh-cockney-canadian and a lot of people thing he's Australian.Pretty funny! So what part of Wales is your friend from?
Exploring! Yes — as much as possible, which is, unfortunately, very little. All over Wales, and I've never seen or imagined a place as beautiful as north Wales. Haven't made it to Scotland yet, but went to Hadrian's Wall. Also Ireland, London millions of times, Nottingham, Sheffield, Devon, and north Cornwall. And France, once. I wish I could travel more. I love being a tourist.
and 8pm – 2am is exactly right! I'm actually working on the magazine right now! (Well, kind of! LOL)
primaryantagonist✘ Not a clienti definitely have problems with anxiety and stress. I'm pretty obsessive about checking everything's off/locked/safe etc before I go to bed, and most of the time I'm really anxious that *something* is going to happen but I don't know what.
When I wake up too early I get really paranoid as well — does the anxiety cause the insomnia or does the insomnia cause the anxiety? 😮
primaryantagonist✘ Not a clientYes! It's much easier for me to stay up all night and sleep all day — it's always been that way. I sleep better during the day. I find it really hard to wake up in the morning and when I'm awake I'm not much use. Even if I wake up at 6am, I'll still naturally stay up until 3 or 4 am, I just won't sleep. There aren't a lot of jobs for people on this schedule, and I don't think people understand — it's like “morning people” think I'm just lazy, but I can't change it. It's been this way for years.
primaryantagonist✘ Not a clientThe Velvet Underground's self-titled album (with Candy Says and Pale Blue Eyes on it — although I must warn you against The Murder Mystery if you're prone to paranoia!) is incredibly relaxing. Also early Leonard Cohen, especially Songs of Leonard Cohen, any Mogwai, and, possibly my greatest recent sleep-related discovery, Tom Waits Orphans (the Bawlers disc). Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful sleepy music. Listen to a few tracks on Spotify to see if it's your thing — I love it!
primaryantagonist✘ Not a clientI write — for my magazine, other magazines (mostly music and history), short stories, and I've recently finished my first novel. In the process of publishing at the moment — taking forever!
primaryantagonist✘ Not a clientNice to meet you! I'm a writer, too! It's pretty much the ideal career for an insomniac, but I don't think it helps my sleep patterns at all! What do you write?
primaryantagonist✘ Not a clientNice to meet you, Franky! Was it hard making up with your parents? I'm glad to hear things are going better with them now, but it's never easy growing up with parents with any kind of disorder. My mom has had chronic anxiety since I was ten and that was hard to deal with, I can't imagine what it must have been like for you. Also having insomnia since you were six! Wow! What was that like being in school?
primaryantagonist✘ Not a clientNice to meet you! I have a friend in Edmonton — how funny! Good luck with that Canadian winter — the only way I survived Minnesota was lots and lots of flannel! Won't be long now until the snow starts to melt, though. Do you find the weather/amount of sunlight effects your sleep habits? I have seasonal affective disorder and I've always noticed a difference, and then it's different again in the UK where the winter nights are even longer and it rains pretty constantly.
primaryantagonist✘ Not a clientHi Lindsay! It's nice to meet you! I can totally understand not being able to sleep when your husband is away and not wanting to take heavy meds with the kids there — I have a bit of trouble sleeping when mine's away and he's never even gone for long! Does anything help?
primaryantagonist✘ Not a clientHi! Nice to meet you! Guitar hero, huh? I never got the hang of the Wii – I tried Mario Kart and that was funy, but I always find the controller weird! I guess I'm more of an 8-bit girl 😉
primaryantagonist✘ Not a clientHi Ursula! Nice to meet you! Do you like home schooling? I was homeschooled for a little while. I liked spending more time with my mom! How old is your son?
primaryantagonist✘ Not a clientHi Ruth! History teachers are great — I got my first degree in Medieval History in Swansea. I like the sound of bleeding heart left winger and edupunk — wonderful to meet you!
primaryantagonist✘ Not a clientNew York City! Cool! What part of the UK are you from? I'm from Minnesota but I'm living in Cardiff with my British husband! 😀
