seenafterscene✘ Not a client
I won't go into any long discussion on this, as I have not the religious or philosophical knowledge to talk about this intelligently. But I do believe we do not simply cease to exist when we die. I have had some similar dreams/experiences of loved ones lost, even felt their “presence” at times, but I am undecided as to what state and where we go when we pass on.
seenafterscene✘ Not a clientI think universally to everyone I've told this to, is that in 9th grade(?) a teacher told me it was important to alternate what side of the mouth you start brushing your teeth on. (e.g. start on the right side, then left side next time, then right side.) Apparently, she was told this by her dentist as she developed some sort of issue from “hard brushing” her gums or something, but everyone I've ever mentioned this inescapable habit of mine too including a physician and my parents thought it was pretty crazy/odd.

Well, if we're talking bad movies, you had me at “Lorenzo Lamas.” But he AND Debbie Gibson, that just makes me curious. Lol.
seenafterscene✘ Not a clientSorry again everyone for having to cut out so short. As a dream team member, I sat this one out too fast. To briefly explain, I simply had too much going on in my head to focus on the chat (mental health, not insomnia.) I do hope to make the next one though and I hope you all had a good time.

seenafterscene✘ Not a clientJust thought I'd mention for those that know or don't know, B&N is offering free e-books every week. This week I got some Edgar Allen Poe, last week I got some Jane Austen. Totally free. Still don't have an e-reader, but the apps will have to do for now. But def. check out the free offerings B&N has, they have some pretty good ones sometimes.
seenafterscene✘ Not a clientAdded it to my “queue” as it were. Looking forward to seeing it, IvanAleisterMesniaa, esp. after the kudos you've gotten.

I do not believe I've heard of Lipstick on Your Collar, and the Singing Detective has always been a curiosity of mine. Thanks for the suggestions, Aura Todd!!!

I watched Atom Egoyan's latest “Chloe,” last night. It kind of reminded me of another '90s luminary Tom Tykwer (German filmmmaker: “Run Lola Run,” and “The Princess and the Warrior”) in the sense that they made brilliant films in the '90s, but then Tykwer did “The International” most recently, and Egoyan has now made “Chloe.”
Although thematically similar to a lot of one of Canada's brightest filmmakers work, and written by Erin Cressida Wilson (she wrote “Secretary”) this really felt like a “mainstream” “Hollywood” version of an Egoyan film, rather than an actual Egoyan film–which it technically is. I have to imagine they were trying to make a more “accessible” film, and though the character Chloe (acted splendidly by Amanda Seyfried) is intriguing and unique, this film ultimately felt pretty flat and ho-hum to me.

Just looked up The Singing Detective, assumed you meant the film (w/ Robert Downey Jr.), but there is also a 1986 mini-series(?) which seems to be of the same source material. Which one should I watch???
seenafterscene✘ Not a clientYou make an interesting point Aura Todd, that I missed earlier. I do sort of, “get” and believe in Feng Shui. Unfortunately (or fortunately), an entire wall of my room is mirrors all the way across…however, my bed is in a sort of nook, and is about as “not facing the mirrors” as one can get (bed faces window, have to turn my head to actually see the mirror.)

Melatonin works when I need a slight push, or need to fall asleep faster. Tylenol PM and Benadryl work when I get in that “OMG I HAVEN'T SLEPT FOR MORE THAN THREE HOURS A NIGHT IN LIKE TWO WEEKS AND I MIGHT JUST KILL SOMEONE” mood and just want to knock myself out for twelve hours. Also, I wish pot was legal in Pennsylvania…
Unfortunately, Lamictal, the medicine I'm prescribed to manage my Bipolar II, sometimes makes me feel like I've drank a little too much coffee. I try to take it as soon as I can in the morning, but I have a feeling that sometimes the reason I can't sleep is because of the Lamictal.
Sounds like we really are similar, or rather have similar issues based on the last post I just & replied to of yours. I am back to using trazadone as my primary sleeping medicine with Klonopin as needed, which I usually don't like to take at bed time, and also Ambien as a back-up. Usually trazadone gives me a horrible next day grogginess, but for whatever fortunate reason, it hasn't been as bad this go around.
August 30, 2010 at 4:08 pm in reply to: Is insomnia as a result of Bipolar mania really insomnia? #11530seenafterscene✘ Not a clientI have not had a chance to read the article yet, though I believe Martin may have posted the link before. That said, what I notice more than whether or not the hypopmania or mania I experience is a lack of sleep, is that inevitably when I “crash” the lack of sleep sure makes itself known in a negative way. I also suffer from bipolar, and have insomnia, and personally consider them separate but distinctly different issues.

Watched the Underworld Trilogy this week as I'd grabbed it on BRD, certainly better than a certain Vampire vs Werewolves saga that is currently doing the rounds…
I love the subtle reference to that “'other' vampire/werewolf saga currently doing the rounds” Even though I have nothing against it per se, it sure is fun to poke fun at. I still have to see the third Underworld movie, I think I should add it to my queue.

I recently rewatched Red Desert, the classic first full color film from Michelangelo Antonioni from 1964, starring the great Monica Vitti. Watched it for the second time in the past few months since it was released again (it's been out-of-print for years). Still holds up, not just visually or thematically, but I still maintain it is one of the best films depicting mental health/breakdown I've seen–particularly unusual considering many of the over-the-top films of the 50s and 60s dealing with mental illness–though I should stress that is not thematically what the film is about. I should also, I guess according to the insert, that it is considered “avante garde” (aka not for everyone). But I thoroughly enjoyed it.
seenafterscene✘ Not a clientHello Aura…I'm one of the “AWOL” members, I've been less active lately, but hope to be more active in the future again. Welcome.
