Rustlers burgers. Plastic cheese and chemical sauce, yummy.

So, please share the medications you've tried, and what has worked (or not worked for you). I think this could turn into a very valuable resource.
I haven't really been given anything specific to insomnia – as of yet. I've only just gotten a letter through from my counsellor for the sleep clinic I have to make an appointment for.
But as I mentioned in another thread, my old GP seemed to be happy just chucking amitriptaline at me, to cover everything. He thinks it's some sort of wonder-cure-all pill. He actually said to me “For your depression and anxiety I'm going to give you amitriptaline, which will also act as a sedative for you at night and help you sleep, it should also stop the tension headaches” – he left out the part where it may give me vivid nightmares, make me feel groggy as heck the next morning, and give me headaches even worse than the tension headaches it was supposed to cure.
I've moved towns so obviously moved GPs, my new GP seems much more sympathetic and helpful and isn't as keen just to throw pills at me and is helping me instead. He's given me a med4 for now while I 'sort myself out' and 'settle down', it was him that got me into counselling, he wants to see me every 2 weeks to track my progress and help me on my feet, he's even helping me get back into college and stuff. So instead of throwing medication at me he's trying to help me get my lifestyle on track which would, in turn, hopefully fix my sleep and anxiety naturally

How does your insomnia effect you during the day, do you just try and carry on as normal or is that impossible? I try to carry on as normal as possible but it's not always easy! Holding down a job and having a family to look after is hard when you are sleep deprived.

I work on my social networking community, I'm not rushing it though, I take my time, a couple of hours here and there when I can't sleep and want something to do. Take my time so i don't make any mistakes.
Or, I play my favourite MMORTS “Call of Combat”.

Here are mine:
1. I once ran naked through the woods in Finland and jumped into an icy cold lake during a sauna session
2. My favoUrite animals are ducks
3. At the age of 21 I once woke up in a field after a night of drinking not knowing where I was or how I got there.
4. I am extremely frugal – my friends call me 'penny saver', yet I like to buy cool stuff.
5. I'll try anything once.
Haha, brilliant, I always knew you had a secret wild side to you !!
Okay I'll join in.
1) I come across as loud and eccentric but I'm actually rather quiet and reserved in person
2) I'm 27 in a month but the more I age, the more immature I seem to become (trying to cling onto my youth)
3) I have no value for money whatsoever. I received a handsome inheritance several years ago and every last penny of it is gone, and what's worse I have nothing to show for it. If I've got money in my pocket or my bank account I stay out until it is all gone out of pure impulse
4) I can't go to sleep at all unless I've had half an hour cuddling with my dog. Sad but true, I've had her since she was just 3 weeks old, she's 11 this year and always likes a cuddle on the sofa before we go to bed
5) My biggest dream is to go into politics, and although I had my foot in the door last year and threw it all away, I have no regrets as I believe now I was going down the wrong path anyway and gaining popularity in the wrong Party, so I'm taking a year's hiatus while I move house and go back to college and will start it all from scratch, in a more legitimate Party
Tommy ToXen✘ Not a clientI used to suffer from sleep apnea, and although I received no therapy for it, it just seemed to disappear on its own, but I do suspect that the sleep apnea may have been caused or at least triggered by amitriptaline, I was taking 200mg of it at the time, once it was cut down and eventually stopped, the apnea just disappeared like that. I noticed nightmares were a lot more vivid then, too.
The doctor was using amitritpaline as a one-size-fits-all pill I think, as a sedative, anti-depressant and a calmer. Which seemed to make me worse rather than better.
Tommy ToXen✘ Not a clientHi, Molly 🙂
I believe to stop spammers you just need to post a hello to prove you're not a spambot or something is all 🙂
Welcome to Insomnia Land. Do you have much trouble sleeping? Care to tell us a little about yourself? 🙂
Hope you enjoy your stay!
Tommy ToXen✘ Not a clientI did yes, was very good thank you for doing that for us Yam 🙂
I'll start from today then, which is a good day to start as my sleeping pattern has gone a tad awry at the moment, so let's see how it progresses over the next week!

I'm good thanks snowangels 🙂 how are you?
Tommy ToXen✘ Not a client'Martin' wrote on '16:The mission of Insomnia Land is twofold – to provide support and advice for insomnia sufferers, and to help people better understand insomnia and take it more seriously.
To help with the latter part of our mission, I want a couple of volunteers to agree to write a sleep diary each night for a week. We'll then publish the diary on the blog so others can see what it's like to suffer from insomnia; the odd routines, the thoughts that go through your head – the real nitty gritty details of the condition.
For this to work, I need some volunteers – anyone interested in helping out?
If this is still on the tables, I'll be happy to do it.
Tommy ToXen✘ Not a clientI don't think it's the weight loss that cures the insomnia per se, I'd say it's more the exercise and release of dopamine that would heighten your general self confidence and mood, which in turn would affect your positive state of mind helping you to sleep better.
Tommy ToXen✘ Not a clientI'd love the superpower of clapping my hands together, shouting “LIZARD TONGUE, ACTIVATE” and my tongue magically grows 50ft long.
That'd be a fantastic superpower.
Quite a party trick to entertain the ladies at nightclubs with, too!

I haven't slept at all yet, now 10 PM, and still awake-ish, no doubt I'll crash later on in the afternoon >.>
