        Lady Jane, I think that is part of my problem; I am not ready to put up with lousy sleep. Last night was my second with the magic cookies. I slept very well, a full 8 hours. I do not have the munchies or a hangover and I feel good, like normal, whatever that is. I think at this point I will apply for a medical marijuana card. This beats everything else and I am tired of trying all the remedies that are supposed to work and do not. My kids are laughing at me, they are calling me the “Stoned Grandma.” The marijuana initative will be on the Oregon ballot in November. It will be interesting to see what happens. I sincerely hope yu find something that gives you rest and recuperation. But this has been such a long struggle.

          OMG! That would never be allowed here i dont think….i will ask my neuro. i had another terrible night, despite feeling so good all day, went for some retail therapy for the first time since my husband died in January and managed three hours with a friend, we had a blast. then i came home and my neighbour told me my garden was a mess! So i set to on that for an hr and half, and was exhausted, but elated, and still awake at 2 am!! Oh how much more does a person have to take???;

            Hi Lady Jane, you said what I have often thought; what more does a person have to take? I got very tired of that 1 or 2 or maybe if I was lucky 3 hours of sleep. I asked my go to guy about your Parkinson's. He said it worked very well for the tremors and instability, maybe you will get some info and help from your MD. Do you have a single payer health plan there. I wish they would get it here. I worked for the State Of Calif and am well provided for in the insurance area. I do want to see it available for everyone. Noone should have to sell their house or business to pay medical bills, but it happens here. I had another good night of sleep, 8 hours and no hangover and no munchies, shich I was concerned about. I am very happy with the MJ it seems to do what I want. I may not be writing to you in the night any longer only in the morning. Best to you.

                Hi Lady Jane, no unfortunately you have to rely on the goodness of friends and their friends. I put out the word that I wanted to try just a little to see if it would work for me; people came forth with samples and I am very happy with the results. I hope you can use this info to help you.

                  Firstly lady Jane, that's the most adorable thing I've ever read, “what are MJ cookies? Do u buy then at a supermarket?!” lol thanks!! U bake them at home using marijuana. I live in aus too so it's a hilarious thought to me, seeing MJ cookies in the local Coles haha! But more seriously, both of u said ur long term insomnia started after your children were born? I've just had my first, she's 4mnths old, and it's been a little over a month sine I've had a proper nighs sleep so reading your posts has me terrified! Id never considered the possibility that this could be a long term problem, I've barely coped with a single months worth of sleeplessness, I can't imagine doing this for ever! May I ask, have either of you seen a specialist, and if so, is there a reason childbirth can be a trigger for insomnia? Is there anything u wish ud been told sooner?

                    I had written a whole paragraph full of such interesting stuff and lost it all. You are supposed to laugh now. Anyway;yes motherhood brings lots of new stuff. As you have probably heard you learn to sleep with one ear and one eye open forever. No, my problems did come from that time, having 4 under 4 1/2; sleep was not a problem. My problem came from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, then Narcolepsy, then Insomnia. That was 25 years ago. I was tired of trying all the tips that people and doctors gave me. So I decided to try Marijuana,(on advice of my children). I was pleasantly surprised that it worked so well and relieved my anxiety over insomnia. I got my medical card and went shopping. Here in Oregon if you have your card you can go to the dispensery to buy your products. I do not smoke so I learned that you can vaperorize it, eat it in cookies, jam, and tinctures. Also available is a topical that is great for aches and pains. I do not know how your laws are there; we have a new initative on the ballot next month that if it should pass will make it easier to get. Will let you know the outcome of the voting. Good sleep!

                      Breaking the ice, I forgot to answer your question; yes I have been to the sleep center about ten years ago. I was diagnosed with a very active case of Restless Legs syndorme. Most of the meds I was given had so many side effects attached that I finally said ENOUGH OF THIS.

                        Here in Australia it is illigal, but they are pretty light on punishment if u get caught with what's considered enough for personal use, I think it's up to 3 grams. U pretty much get a slap on the wrist. I have heard great things about vaporisers, they re a very healthy way of inhaling the thc in MJ. I saw a doco on a guy who smoked non stop for a month, (his take on supersize me) and on advice from his doc was told to use a vaperiser. I always thought ingesting it was suppost to have a more intensive 'trip' effect, but I've never tried it so I could be wrong 🙂 I smoked a little when I was younger and it definitely made me sleep great, although I didn't have sleeping troubles back then, but u do have to be careful, my ex smoked non stop for over a year, and when he stopped he

                        started having intense panick attacks and anxiety that went on for a year, and I have read that long term use can also lead to depression, but im pretty sure it's only I'd ur using it very heavily and for a very long time, I don't think using it once a day to sleep will have such an effect. I'm glad u found something that works for u, a lot of ppl frown on the use of MJ for medical reasons, but all insomniacs will know that if u fond something that works, nothing else really matters! Plus MJ is a seriously safe drug to use, if you were using heroin to sleep I think that would raise many more concerns lol! Happy sleeping 🙂

                          Hi Monandothers, I am doing my own research? In other words asking many questions; such as does one type of weed have different properties than an other. The answer is yes, some will make you calm and others will make you feel perky. I opt for the former. Using a vaporizer gets the stuff into you faster. When I use the tincture or eat the cookies it takes about an hour to make me sleepy, which is okay. I am now trying to use as little as possible and get the effect I want. As far as depression; if I get my sleep the big D stays away because I am rested and not suffering from anxiety. I wonder too if some people overdue the use of weed and that is when they run into problems. I hope you find some relief, I just got very tired of all the suggestions that did not work and I wanted to sleep.

                          Good sleep

                            Im not a fan of prescription meds as they mostly don't work, but also anything that's addictive just scares the hell out of me, and as MJ really isn't addictive unless you're really abusing it, I think it's a great solution if it works for you! I'm very happy you found something that works, and I love the idea of a “stoned grandma” as your children have put it, lol it's very cute and funny 😜 best of luck with it!

                              Monandothers. Hello again, it is definetly Autumn here there is a chill wind and it is blowing the beautiful leaves off the trees. The picture of a stoned grandma is curious to say the least; but it is not like that. I guess it is because I go to bed and sleep it off. I only use just before bedtimes. I know of others who use it all day because of chronic pain. Having a good sleep help with the pain, I do not notice it so much during the day, but at night if I don't sleep well it is annoying. Hope you are getting some relief.

                              Good sleep

                                Sadly last week i had to surrender my driving licence,so on top of everything else bang goes my independence!! My neuro prescribed some stronger sleepers, saidi i had to get some sleep which the lack of makes my PD worse. so i Googled this drug when i got home and it is the date rape drug no less, i was aghast and emailed him, he got the hump and as he had made an error on the script, he took it out on me and waited ten days to re issue it. so bye bye you and and i am already in better hands! This insomnia is far worse than the Parkinson's itself, it jst makes me feel so crappy all the time, cant remember when i had a good day, i am soooo miserable right now and how i wish my gorgeous husband were here with me,i would eat rabbit s…. if if would bring him back……….well back in search of somezzzzzzzzzz i wish!!

                                  Lady Jane, sounds like you are having a month of Mondays. When can you get your drivers license again? There is good transportation where I live, so if ever I have to give up my car I will be okay. But I still like having a car, mine is ten years old and is still in great shape. Wish I could say the same for me. Will you situation change after a while, or is it a wait see? I stopped seeing my last Doctor and am trying a different one. The office I was going to was too big and impersonal.

                                  Hope for better days for you
