Medical practitioner told me I may have hypomania even though I only have insomnia as a symptom. Has anyone here been diagnosed similarly? I only sleep 1-2 hours per night and I’m not able to nap nor do I rarely yawn during the day.

Have you been formally diagnosed with hypomania, bipolar disorder, or chronic insomnia? If you’ve been diagnosed with chronic insomnia, have you asked your doctor if they think you’d be a good candidate for cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I)?

Hi! An ARNP is calling my insomnia with no symptoms of sleepiness during the day “Hypomania”. When I look up Hypomania, I see that under bipolar 2, it’s usually coupled with hyperactivity modes during the day, like intense exercise for hours or cleaning the house for hours. I do none of those things. Daytime is low key and “typical” for my life as in pre-insomnia days. I was not officially diagnosed with chronic insomnia. Although I am not sure what makes a diagnosis official these days. I have not been diagnosed with bipolar 2 by an MD.
