Hi! I started insomnia coach training last may and it has made a big difference – went from 6 months straight of severe insomnia to most nights of good sleep. However, every few weeks recently the insomnia comes back for a few days or even longer. I always follow the rules when that happens – no sleeping in, no changing my lifestyle, doing something enjoyable while awake, etc. And it always goes away eventually. But it’s frustrating how often this happens. This week alone Ive had 3 insomnia nights so I’m in a new bout. Is this normal? I don’t want to loose trust in this. It’s been 9 months since I started the program.

I wouldn’t panic about a few random difficult nights of sleep. I suggest acknowledging the significant strides you’ve made, transitioning from six months of insomnia to just a few disruptive nights at present. Great job! I wonder if you might be giving too much focus to these recent nights, perhaps exerting excessive effort to “fix” your sleep. This additional effort might be creating unnecessary pressure on yourself to achieve a good night’s sleep. What are your thoughts?
