It is my first post on this forum. I am having difficulty sleeping through the night since a few months. It became more serious since a month. I saw a doctor who prescribed xanor (a type of benzo) . I’m actually taking 0.25 mg daily together with 750 mg valerian. The initial dose was 0.5 mg daily. The valerian is helping me to decrease the xanor. I do not take any medicine on Fridays and Saturdays so as not to get addicted to Xanor. I want to get off xanor completely.
Valerian alone does not seem to work for the time being. Can anyone help. ThanksMarch 23, 2020 at 5:31 pm #36066

Have you looked into cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) techniques? These will address the actual cause of chronic insomnia, which is always inappropriate and/or incorrect sleep-related thoughts and behaviors. Tackling the cause of your sleep disruption is probably going to be more helpful over the long-term than medication.
I hope this helps! The content of this post is provided for informational and educational purposes only.
