Hi. When doing CBTi, is it accepted to listen to podcasts or guided meditation or progressive relaxation techniques on the bed? Thanks in advance.

When you have insomnia, especially when it’s quite recently, it’s often useful to do your usual routine before your insomnia started. So what did you do last time? Try to stick to that. Because that is truly your real personality before everything started. Good luck!

That’s fine, Chee2308, but nothing related to sleep is like before the insomnia started! The sleep window, the getting up from bed, the avoidance of naps…All are new. I don’t know how else to cope with being awake than to do these things like read or listen to audiobooks, which I only did during the day time before. Just lying in bed is a recipe for anxiety!!

I think you can do whatever you like in bed as long as it’s pleasant and not a sleep effort. Whenever we do something in an attempt to make sleep happen (a sleep effort), we are trying to sleep — and when we try to sleep, sleep usually becomes a lot more difficult!
