Have any of you been officially diagnosed with insomnia? If so, how did it make you feel? Did it bring some relief, or did it just make your struggle with sleep even worse?

If you haven't been officially diagnosed, why? Did doctors not take your problem seriously? Are you hesitant to seek medical advice?

I'm curious to read your answers.

If you are ready to stop struggling with insomnia you can enroll in the online insomnia coaching course right now! If you would prefer ongoing phone or video coaching calls as part of a powerful three month program that will help you reclaim your life from insomnia, consider applying for the Insomnia Clarity program.

I was diagnosed with severe clinical depression which sometimes causes lots of sleep and sometimes difficulty in sleeping. I go through phases of both. I suppose they didn't consider a separate insomnia diagnosis necessary.

I was diagnossed with Insomnia offically at age six, I had a complete psychological evaluation when I was young all kinds of tests, and it didn't help me, they just tried giving me over the counter sleeping medication and as I grew older more medication which all didn't help.

i've never seen a doctor about it. mostly i can manage it myself, and i guess i always thought they'd brush it off. usually when i try to talk to people about it they say it's all in my head, like i should just be able to fall asleep at 8pm. i didn't have insomnia when i was a kid like you did, but i couldn't go to sleep very early (12 or 1 was normal, then 1 or 2…) and i had a hard time waking up early enough to get to school on time. they don't like that…
