I started having trouble sleeping about a year ago( no problems at all prior to that),almost certainly triggered by a health concern- which turned out to be unfounded.
My problem is onset insomnia,(I sleep soundly if only I can get to sleep in the first place) ;and, consequently,I spend many hours wide awake, and sometimes with no sleep at all.
Although there has been a general improvement over the last few weeks,(for example,I recently had almost a fortnight of trouble free sleepig),this last week has been’back to square one’,with two or three night’s with no perceptible sleep at all.
This inability to snatch even a couple of hours on such night’s is what I find most scary and worrying.

        Greetings!
What’s so scary and worrying about the inability to catch even a couple of hours of sleep on such nights? ?

I encourage you to really identify why you find not sleeping so frightening that it keeps you up all night. Then challenge yourself, be brave to find out whether this is true. You must have the ability to manage this fear well to get ahead! Nobody has ever truly recovered as long as they continue to fear poor sleep.

And ask yourself why you think your sleep is damaged, given that you have already proven to yourself that you can sleep well for the past few weeks. Is having a couple of bad nights really so bad, after so many good nights?

Once you recouncile with your fears, you may just find your way out of all this. Good luck!

Anxiety about sleeping or having ruminating thoughts about what if you don’t sleep is very common with many who have insomnia. For me, it’s from already having an anxiety disorder. I but don’t know if you have generalized anxiety disorder. My CBT-I therapist told me many people also have anxiety, I don’t know why I have worrisome thoughts and but it just goes along with my insomnia-based anxiety. It’s taking me longer than many to do CBT-I because of this. I identifying each thought doesn’t help me. I wish you well
