Hi all, I have struggled on and off with insomnia for over twenty years since the birth of my first baby. During that time I have had many setbacks. I found martins class a year and a half ago and it was a game changer for me! I learned so much about myself and what I can do to help. It gave me tools and a plan and has helped immensely. All that being said, I still experience setbacks sometimes. Last night I was struggling and read some forum posts and was comforted reminding myself I am not the only one.
I keep a notes page on my phone that I read when I am struggling. It is filled with words from Martins class and my own tips etc. I feel like reading it helps reset me and stops the spiral of anxiety that unfortunately just seems to move in on me when I experience setbacks. I wanted to share an excerpt in hopes it can help someone out there💕
Setbacks are to be expected-normal part of human life. Remember remember to do what helps:
Above all kindness
Hard nights need extra kind days
Keep doing what matters
Make toward moves
No such thing as failure, only continued practice leading to action (always in my power/control)
Notice and appreciate
Acknowledge anxiety-make space for it
Sometimes circumstances in life make sleep hard-happens to all. It’s ok to need help.
Review notes
Implement sleep window
Find and plan things to do instead of struggle
Be patient, be kind
Insomnia is not a permanent condition.
Trials are not punishments; they are part of your becoming.
Each challenge gives you a chance to grow into the person you are meant to be.
Trials Unlock Deeper Purpose.
Every hard thing you go through teaches you something eternal.
Your compassion deepens. Your ability to love, minister, and serve expands. Your story becomes filled with light and purpose. The very trials you once feared often lead you to the people, places, and callings that bring your soul the most joy.
Insomnia is a reminder to you to turn to God and take care of you🙏🏼🫶🏼 all practice is helpful practice. love yourself through alllll of it
