A consistent out of bed time can help strengthen the body clock and ensure enough time for sleep drive to build during the day to help set the stage for sleep at night.
Perhaps the most helpful part of a sleep window, however, is as a tool to help us move away from chasing after sleep. Quite often, the more we chase after sleep (by going to bed earlier or staying in bed later, for example) the more elusive it becomes.
And, the more we chase after sleep, the more time we might spend in bed — and that means less time out of bed, living life.
We do less and sleep becomes a bigger part of our lives.
