I’ve been having chronic insomnia for 6 years.
I live in Bosnia (f..d up country, where doctors are too lazy and in whole country we don’t have sleep specialist).
Because of the insomnia ofc my doctor sent me to psychiatrist and from them all of my 6 years I was having damn strong sedatives.
In 2018 I developed chronic rinosinusitis comorbid with alergies to dust mites and then asthma.
Last 2-3 weeks I sleep only 3-4 hours,I wake up around dawn and can’t fall asleep again.I wake up with dry mouth, because I really snore a lot and very loud.
I thought last night to record my self while sleeping and snoring and when I wake up I stop the recording.
When I played the audio file I’m not a doctor but I think I have severe sleep apnea which is probably a reason why I don’t sleep “normal” for 6 years.
But here is the problem,I can not do PSG nor I can buy here or in neighbour countries that damn cfap mask.
      So what should I do?
I’m pathetic,I really want to know if I don’t sleep for 6 years because of SA and I was giving like 10000 psychiatric drugs just to sleep, and was told I have personality disorder, depression, ocd bla bla….
I can put an audio file somewhere and link here so someone please tell me it’s not sleep apnea :/

Hello My Friend. I’m not a expert or doctor but my mother has a Sleep Apnea. Sometimes during the night she was woking up because she can’t breath. We go the doctor and the doctor give her a some drugs and these drugs helped her , she is fine in these days. She sleeps 7 or 6 hours per day and pretty healthy. So i don’t think you have the Sleep Apnea , even you have it’s not a big deal my mother also has it and she is living okay !

You can go the doctor and they will they you anyway if you had. Anyway , i wish you a good luck brother ! Stay safe.

          Hello Friend!

In my struggles with insomnia, treatments, psychiatrists, sleep specialists, hospitalizations, medicines etc… I was referred to CEPAP (a torture machine) for my sleep apnea. I bought it and it was very expensive. The thing blew in my nose all night long with an infernal noise. I couldn’t sleep with that at all. My anxiety level was 10000. I was taking more and more medications to get few and poor hours of sleep. Those were nights of utter despair. Nowadays I sleep very well applying the simple CBTi practices. I sleep too much. If I have apnea I don’t even know anymore. Does not bother me. The more things I put into my life to help me sleep, the more insomnia I got. (forgiveness for english)

            What sickness is that?
If it’s not sleep apnea what is it?

              Hello frozensun
Have you considered the idea that nothing is wrong?? Waking up few times during the night is common and even normal for everyone! You are trying to find a problem when there isn’t one. Therefore you are endlessly trying to solve an inexistent problem and chasing a ghost for 6 years! And all that efforts led to poor sleep because you are trying so hard, you didn’t find the solution and you become so frustrated and angry that your body gets into a heightened state all the time, possibly affecting your sleep.

Of course, this is just an idea. You should talk to your doctor if you have other health concerns. Nobody here is qualified to give any medical advice for psychosis or other severe mental issues. I wish you the best and hope you find relief soon.

You can name the sleep disorder whatever you like. The insomnia tree has many branches. Night panic, anxiety, depression, obsession, apnea, etc… but the root of this tree is one. Fear. Once fear has released its damn adrenaline into our body, sleep simply goes away. And it becomes a cycle that repeats itself night after night. I suggest you read all the posts here on this forum and see the suggestions for cases like yours, learn more about insomnia and see what people are doing to break this cycle. Here you will learn a lot. This forum is very rich. I wish you success.
