      Hello everyone, I’ve been off the forum a few weeks now because I’ve been sleeping well, but I have an important event Sunday and I’m scared I won’t sleep the days leading up to it and I will not be able to function or enjoy the event. I’m catastrophizing and I want to cry. Im trying to tell myself it’s ok if I don’t sleep but then my anxiety tells me I need it or I’ll die, I’ll ruin the event for my family. I also will be sharing a room with my sister for a week and I’m worried that seeing her sleep and not sleeping before her will make me panic. I don’t know what to do, I can’t cancel the event, and the anxiety is so bad my stomach is churning. Help please.

          Panic of not being able to account for future events if I don’t sleep. The head doesn’t stop, imagining all the disasters and sufferings if we don’t sleep, how horrible it will be if… Yes, I know these symptoms well and I can tell you what worked for me. The word for me was acceptance. Accept whatever happens. Saying yes when the mind wants to sink into the pessimism of “If” Accept everything that may come to pass. : _ Whatever happens, I’ll go to the event. And it’s going to be great for me to stay awake for the entire event. In fact, it’s even better if I don’t sleep. (The brain loves these inversions and ends up doing exactly the opposite. That’s its language). If I accept anything that happens to me and the brain has no more results to monitor, it finally shuts down.
          I learned to talk to the brain about his language. And these days it’s hard to stay awake. I no longer have trouble sleeping, I sleep peacefully after 20 years of insomnia. Thanks to Martin Reed and the forum. Sorry for the English, using translator.

            Hi Angeli!
            Thanks for sharing. If you want to sleep well, then you must really be prepared to accept the worst case senario and poor sleep. Over time, you just become desensitized. Then it doesn’t bother you anymore, that’s how people recover! Accepting and not avoiding!
