A couple of you were tweeting about tattoos yesterday. I find that people either love them or hate them. I have 5 myself although you would never know it unless I was in a swimsuit with my hair up….. (if I wasn't so lazy right now, I'd take pix and upload):
1. Cross w/a rose vine wrapped around it on my left hip
2. Dolphin yin yang tribal design on my lower back
3. Butterfly in silhouette on the right side of my neck
4. Lotus flower tribal disk in the center of my upper back
5. My name in Sanskrit on the inside of my right wrist (ok, I don't need to be in a swimsuit for you to see that!)
What do you guys think of tattoos? Do you have any and what are they?
February 13, 2010 at 4:09 pm #10214I freaking adore tattoos! My husband has 19 and counting, and will have a lower leg piece by the time he gets home. I have:
~Back piece – cascading stars
~The back piece will be continued around my sides and hips next week, me thinks.
~A flower on my wrist
~A breast cancer ribbon on the back of my neck, in honor of my mother in law who was recently diagnosed.
~And I'm going to get a half sleeve with an abstract and a quote. Either: Where hope grows miracles blossom or Abscence from those we love is self from self – a deadly banishment.
Then when the husband returns with his tattoo kit, he'll be doing the kids names on my feet. 😀
Oh, I also have a tramp stamp, but we won't go there. Silly me, now I need to cover it. lol
February 15, 2010 at 8:57 pm #10215I have always been facinated with tattoos, considering them as living art and a permanent expression of an individual.
I have also really wanted a tattoo for ages, but was told that it could not due to having diabetes and epilepsy, although I was discussing this with a tattooist last weekend and he said it wasn't really an issue, so I'm thinking about having one done soon, although I'm not sure what to have done…
February 15, 2010 at 10:50 pm #10216I LOVE tattoos! I've got two now, but am definitely getting more in the near future. You also wouldn't know of mine unless I told you or was wearing something that would show them off (such as a bathing suit or a midriff shirt). I've a treble cleft on the right side of my waist and an electric bass with a mic entangled in it and a couple bars of music on the left.

I look forward to seeing what you get.

I like the idea of a treble cleft. Sounds nifty!
February 16, 2010 at 6:40 pm #10218Love them.
I have a celtic triquetra on my right leg just above the ankle and two roses connected by loose petals on my left wrist. I definitely plan to get more, although I have to be careful where due to teaching.
Someone at work called tattoos common and working class the other day, to my amusement pretty much everybody around the table then revealed that they had at least one. Brilliant. 🙂
February 16, 2010 at 8:54 pm #10219You should definitely upload some pics, Val!
Personally, I wouldn't tattoo myself but I can appreciate the art. My best friend has LOTS of tattoos, and some of them really are beautiful. When my mother got divorced from her second husband about 15 years ago she got herself a tattoo – she just wanted to have the one and has stuck with it.
I've heard they can be addictive, but she's held out so far!

March 2, 2010 at 2:51 am #10220naaa, cannot imagine myself old gray flabby skin and tatts
March 3, 2010 at 7:59 pm #10221I went to a Tattoo convention in Brighton at the end of January which was good fun, but I've never seen so many Koi Carp tatts in my life! I really loved this guy's artwork: http://www.funkytat.com/japanese
Don't know if I'd ever get one as I change my mind about my design every five minutes 🙂
March 6, 2010 at 7:55 am #10222Okay, I know this was bashing tattoos (at least on her body), but a couple of weeks ago in an interview Kim Kardashian was asked if she would ever get a tattoo. I thought it was so funny how she replied, “Would you put a bumper sticker on a Bentley?!”
The next day I saw a bumper sticker on a Porsche. Not quite a Bentley, but still the same principle.
March 7, 2010 at 7:38 pm #10223She considers herself to be a Bentley — Excessively large, bouncy and overpriced?
😉
