I didn’t sleep at all the day before. But yesterday, I got ten whole hours in! Today, it is 2am, no sleep yet. I’m trying not to feel too nervous, but it’s hard. I wish I could find someone to talk to at times like this.  🙁

Hi Pam -did send a post yesterday but don’t think it took. Hope things picked up ?  They will…..I think it’s about mastering our state of mind. I’m so sorry and I completely understand, we all do….It’s hell I know. You will get through, you will cope and you will turn it around more and more until you are stronger than it and you are relaxed again -Lucy

Hi, Dreamtsleep! It’s gotten quite a bit better. I’m at 4-5 hours sleep per night right now.

The only thing I need to do now is get back to my old sleep time.

I usually go to sleep at 11pm, but now I have been thrown off to 2 and 3am.

Yes -I understand. I had a sudden bad one again last night after a better week though I managed to pull it back on track -just. Have you tried journalling when you can’t sleep? Just writing down all your thoughts, feelings & worries on it…I’ve also started doing the EFT Tapping thing? Really helps. It’s like I have to go and do something, clear something before I can go back to sleep. So glad it’s improving a bit, hang in there 🙂

As of matter of fact, I am getting myself refamiliar with EFT. It worked pretty good for me before. It works good on my sinuses, too!  🙂

I haven’t tried journaling yet. I am going to incorporate that this year. Thank-you so much for these awesome ideas!

I know it feels very frustrating to experience a night of poor sleep after a night of good sleep. Such a cycle is actually not uncommon among those with sleep issues — but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating!

Do you have a regular sleep schedule, Pam? You mentioned that you usually go to sleep at 11:00 PM. Are you also making sure you get out of bed by the same time every day? If so, what is that time?

It’s important to note that having a regular out of bedtime in the morning is probably more important than having a regular bedtime because strictly observing a regular bedtime might lead to you going to bed before you are sleepy and ready for sleep. As soon as you do that, you are setting yourself up for being awake in bed — and this can trigger sleep-related worry, making sleep more difficult.

Hi, Martin! Well, it varies depending on whether I am sleepy or not. I may go to bed between 11am and 2pm. I wake up about 6 or 7am, check my phone, then fall back asleep and get up around 9:30 or 10am. I have been trying to change this so that I can wake up earlier, but it is so hard for me to go to bed early.

You don’t want to go to bed until you feel sleepy and ready for sleep. If you go to bed earlier, you will be setting yourself up to spend more time in bed awake.

Think of it this way, if dinner will not be served until 6:00 pm, would you sit at the table ready to eat at 4:00 pm?
