Hello. I’m on Day 3 of the free course–second time around; Martin was kind enough to sign me up again eight months after my first time.

Both times, what brought me in, besides chronic insomnia, was that I was working on making lots of simultaneous changes to improve my mental and physical health. In April I took the Yale Happiness Class through Coursera, and one of the lessons was on getting enough sleep.

Recently, I started a 60-day habit challenge I saw on a youtube channel. The idea was to take on three positive habits and track them for 60 days. One I chose was to practice good sleep habits.

I’m on day 18 of that challenge, and sleep habits have been my spottiest effort by far, in part because I was just doing half-remembered, haphazard things, not a coordinated program. I was struggling to not watch TV in bed, and I was getting out of bed after 20 min. of wakefulness, but that’s not enough. So I signed up for Martin’s course again.

I meant to write about my insomnia causes. I guess I’ll retitle this post and write about causes another time. Thank you if you’ve read this far.

Bruno – welcome back to the program! Are you experiencing any difficulties implementing any of the CBT-I techniques? Did you achieve some success in restoring your sleep when you went through the program the first time? If not, what seemed to be the obstacle?
