Chronic Stress & hormone changes started making me sleep deprived about 20 years ago.  Then high stress at work, a head injury and PTSD left me disabled and unable to work.  That hasn’t stopped my brain from running constantly day and night.  I have to distract myself to avoid the stress.  But at night, when I relax… it finds its way back into my head when I want to go to sleep.

I have a Behavioral Health office that I use for monitoring my condition and medication.  The severe symptoms have subsided substantially since it began.  I am currently waiting for a referral to a Cognitive Behavioral specialist, but they are having difficulty locating one.  I suspect you are perhaps also in this category?  I was given you name and site to look up by the referring office also.

I am sure you will find CBT-I to be helpful — I hope you aren’t waiting too long for that referral! I am not a therapist, but I do use CBT-I techniques when working with clients because this is the best way to address insomnia and improve sleep over the long term.

Thank you.  I have it on my list to call Friday to check on this.  I am hoping to have some progress in my sleep patterns from the 2 week course observations that will help during the next month.  Life events get busy between now and the end of May, so sleep will be more important to get adjusted into the ‘proper’ time frame.  I am trying hard to start my day at closer to the same time daily.  Sometimes, I still need to lay back down, but I can tell fairy quickly when that is the case.  It has been a long time since my last attempt to schedule my daily tasks, so I am working on a list that I can turn into a chart.
