Yes, I have often had the problem of insomnia affecting my workouts. I like to jog and try to do yoga on a regular basis. When I am having sleeping problems it is very difficult to get myself motivated to go. At times I have forced myself to go even though I was completely fatigued, and ALWAYS felt better that i did. However many times I have just sat on the couch instead feeling like a zombie, and I can say that the days I worked out were definitely better. I find that when I exercise I am generally in a better mood and have less stres and anxiety, which is directly related to my sleeping probs in the first place. Hang in there and try to make youself go even if you are tired! You will feel better that you went (even if you are still tired)!

Now you've got me all paranoid over the grammar of what I wrote. I wonder if it should be:

Mistakes are merely a learning opportunity.

    Ah, who cares!!

Am I the only one who notices (and finds funny) that posting that quote and asking how to make it a signature, in itself, was a mistake and an opportunity for learning?

Since apparently we are all grammatically anal, I would say the best way to phrase it would be either Mistakes are merely opportunities to learn or Mistakes are merely learning opportunities. Since “mistakes” is plural, opportunity should be plural as well. Um, I think I may have a problem. Lol.

The medical care differences will appall you! Mostly, we're a friendly lot. It certainly depends on what programs you've seen as to how real that portrayal is of us.

Understood. Are you aware of the Spoon Theory of personal energy reserves? You seem to have fewer spoons than many with CFS/ME.

I do rather like your tag line.

Thank you for the encouragement Marina:-) What is the Spoon Theory?

It's been a while since I've been on the forum. I like this topic. So here it goes.

The first one is maybe the easiest to accomplish. I would like to learn another foreign language like swedish. I'm really fascinated by the scandinavian way of life ans I also dream of travelling to Sweden.

Secondly, since I'm also fascinated by the US, I would really like to live in the US for a short period of time. I just want to known if things really are as shown on TV and what the little differences between Europe and the US are.

I also dream of writing a book. I have ideas enough but I have difficulties to actually write them. But I'm not giving up! It's been put on hold for now, since there's so much other stuff going on right now.

And last but not least, someday I would like to go back to school. I would love to learn more about IT and become a professional. But again, that doesn't seem to mix with my current issues.

And of course I dream of getting rid of the CFS so I can go ahead and actually do something about my dreams instead of sleeping during the day and lying awake at night.

Well I would like to go to Europe. Maybe we should trade places for a week or so like that movie The Holiday!

Great topic. I've felt a little out-of-the-loop here too, lately; perhaps this'll churn up some activity!

I responded to your post above but your quote didn't show up because I deleted partof it, but I also wanted to add that I had started to write a reply to you depression/insomnia/loneliness posting but it was getting so long and I had to go somewhere so I didn't get a chance to finish it

Ah… life dream? I have a lot of life dreams. Foremost, I dream of being an oft-published author. There's no way I'd stop at one, two books: I know I'm going to be writing my entire life. It would be a dream come true if I wrote and published an entire wall of books. It might sound overly sentimental, but I love literature for the reason that it's timeless. Words on paper travel generations: I could write a book now, and sixty years later, my grandchildren might one day pick it off a shelf. Just the thought that the stories I write now could live far beyond me is humbling: for that reason (and others), I take a lot of pride and care in my work. At risk of rambling- I view writing/literature as something bigger than myself- and to contribute as much as possible, say leave a collection of books behind, would make me very happy at the end of my life. I probably won't stop at a wall. We're dreaming, here, so who says I can't dream for an entire library? I'll write 'till the day I kick the keyboard.

My other life dream is to live abroad in all sorts of places. Somewhere, anywhere, or everywhere. I just want to take a blind stab at a world map, go wherever my finger lands, and soak up all it has to offer. Culture, language, food, everything. I'm a curious soul that's never quite satisfied; seeing the world would be a dream come true

I definitely see the appeal in writing and have wanted to write a book for some time now. I actually started a few times but didn't get very far. I guess I'll just add that to mylist of dreams lol. It is true about books, they are timeless. When I pick up a book I feel like there is a treasure to be found or secret to be unlocked within. Well I will be waiting to see your novel on the bookshelves and when it is published I will buy a copy! I also want to do some traveling around the world. Where do you live again? I have traveled around the U.S. and Asia quite a lot but I would like to travel to as many countries as possible! I guess I will add that to the list too:-) Have you ever heard of couchsurfing.com?

Every day I get a good sleep, I live it like it's never going to happen again, and it feels great!

Cherry I am so happy for you. After reading one of your posts about the CBT, I tried a couple of the things you wrote about. The one that has really helped me was telling myself that everything would be okay if I did not sleep well. I would tell myself that yes, I will be very tired, but it's only one day and that I would make it through the day. It really helped me to not get as anxious on sleepless nights. I have also been sleeping better..not perfect but good for me. I started taking 3mg of Melatonin per night every night as a daily supplement. I don't know if it is really working, but I am going to keep taking it. Congratulations on graduating! Are you still considering grad school? Also, congrats on your new puppy. What kind is he/she? The sleeping probs were just a tough period for you that made you mentally stronger in the long run. It sounds like everything is going wonderfully for you now:-)

Great idea for a new topic, Aimee! Thanks for getting it started.

When I was young, I wanted to drive a double decker bus. After a few years, my ambitions were raised to wanting to be pilot of concorde.

Alas, I didn't reach either of these goals – yet I am still pretty happy with what I have right now!

Ha, double decker bus! Hey you never know…maybe you can go joyriding one of these nights lol.

I always wanted to be a veterinarian. But since my BMI is 60 I cannot walk very much without severe back pain, so being on my feet all day is out of the question. Maybe one day when/if I can lose this weight I'll pursue my dream. I'm 27.

I guess I could go to school for computer systems administration, but I'd have to take online classes since I can't walk much and college campuses are huge. I don't know.

It sounds like the weight issue is restricting. Is it connected to a health issue?

I had certain things come and go that I really wanted to do with my life, although since I can remember I have always had a special connection with animals. After time (and many pursued interests that I grew tired of), I got more and more into volunteering with animal shelters and rescues. I realized that there are a lot of problems involving animals that result unnecessary cruelty and suffering. So, my dream is to be able to work in my career making a fundamental difference to improve the protection/status of animals under the law and raise awareness about the issues. I am in law school now and am working towards being an attorney for an animal advocacy org when I graduate. I am working this summer at Humane Society of the US Animal Protection Litigation, just trying to keep the dream alive!

Also, I have always dreamed of living in a land like Narnia (without the villains of course)

Well, I wrote each draught as far as I could take it; each time I started over was either when the plot I had going wasn't working, or the plot took on a new direction that I wanted, but couldn't fit into that current version. It took several tries to get the plot exactly how I wanted. And now that I have (fully formed/completed the plot), that's the draught I'm working on now.

Also, the first two draughts were handwritten in notebooks; the first major upheaval was when I switched to typing on the computer! Haha.

Oops, just saw this reply. That is a huge project! I want to read it when its all finished, published and in book stores!

Martin those are two lucky kittys! I have a dog, Nobi that I rescued 4 years ago. He was fostering him at first, but then we just couldn't let eachother go!

It is very sad the number of homeless animals that have to sit in shelters, get euthenized, or never find a good permanent home. If people spayed/neutered thier animals and adopted from shelters instead of buying from breeders/pet stores/puppy mills it would help the problem.
