Lady Jane, sounds like you are having a month of Mondays. When can you get your drivers license again? There is good transportation where I live, so if ever I have to give up my car I will be okay. But I still like having a car, mine is ten years old and is still in great shape. Wish I could say the same for me. Will you situation change after a while, or is it a wait see? I stopped seeing my last Doctor and am trying a different one. The office I was going to was too big and impersonal.

Hope for better days for you

Monandothers. Hello again, it is definetly Autumn here there is a chill wind and it is blowing the beautiful leaves off the trees. The picture of a stoned grandma is curious to say the least; but it is not like that. I guess it is because I go to bed and sleep it off. I only use just before bedtimes. I know of others who use it all day because of chronic pain. Having a good sleep help with the pain, I do not notice it so much during the day, but at night if I don't sleep well it is annoying. Hope you are getting some relief.

    Good sleep

Hi Monandothers, I am doing my own research? In other words asking many questions; such as does one type of weed have different properties than an other. The answer is yes, some will make you calm and others will make you feel perky. I opt for the former. Using a vaporizer gets the stuff into you faster. When I use the tincture or eat the cookies it takes about an hour to make me sleepy, which is okay. I am now trying to use as little as possible and get the effect I want. As far as depression; if I get my sleep the big D stays away because I am rested and not suffering from anxiety. I wonder too if some people overdue the use of weed and that is when they run into problems. I hope you find some relief, I just got very tired of all the suggestions that did not work and I wanted to sleep.

    Good sleep

Breaking the ice, I forgot to answer your question; yes I have been to the sleep center about ten years ago. I was diagnosed with a very active case of Restless Legs syndorme. Most of the meds I was given had so many side effects attached that I finally said ENOUGH OF THIS.

I had written a whole paragraph full of such interesting stuff and lost it all. You are supposed to laugh now. Anyway;yes motherhood brings lots of new stuff. As you have probably heard you learn to sleep with one ear and one eye open forever. No, my problems did come from that time, having 4 under 4 1/2; sleep was not a problem. My problem came from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, then Narcolepsy, then Insomnia. That was 25 years ago. I was tired of trying all the tips that people and doctors gave me. So I decided to try Marijuana,(on advice of my children). I was pleasantly surprised that it worked so well and relieved my anxiety over insomnia. I got my medical card and went shopping. Here in Oregon if you have your card you can go to the dispensery to buy your products. I do not smoke so I learned that you can vaperorize it, eat it in cookies, jam, and tinctures. Also available is a topical that is great for aches and pains. I do not know how your laws are there; we have a new initative on the ballot next month that if it should pass will make it easier to get. Will let you know the outcome of the voting. Good sleep!

I think that a lot of the insomnia that people suffer from has some underlying depression. I know that is true with me. The medical establishment needs to do a better job with this problem. The are so bullied by the laws that regulate Rx's. This forum is great for us that go without sleep. How we function at all is a mystery to me. There are times when I am afraid to drive. I cannot visit my family because it is a 400 mile drive and I can't do it if I havn't slept. My roomies asked me to go to the coast for a little RxR, at first I said yes, but now that I think about it, it is not a good idea. If I can't sleep, I will keep them awake, not good. So again I am being a prisoner of my insomnia.

Hi Lady Jane, no unfortunately you have to rely on the goodness of friends and their friends. I put out the word that I wanted to try just a little to see if it would work for me; people came forth with samples and I am very happy with the results. I hope you can use this info to help you.

Hi Lady Jane, you said what I have often thought; what more does a person have to take? I got very tired of that 1 or 2 or maybe if I was lucky 3 hours of sleep. I asked my go to guy about your Parkinson's. He said it worked very well for the tremors and instability, maybe you will get some info and help from your MD. Do you have a single payer health plan there. I wish they would get it here. I worked for the State Of Calif and am well provided for in the insurance area. I do want to see it available for everyone. Noone should have to sell their house or business to pay medical bills, but it happens here. I had another good night of sleep, 8 hours and no hangover and no munchies, shich I was concerned about. I am very happy with the MJ it seems to do what I want. I may not be writing to you in the night any longer only in the morning. Best to you.

Lady Jane, I think that is part of my problem; I am not ready to put up with lousy sleep. Last night was my second with the magic cookies. I slept very well, a full 8 hours. I do not have the munchies or a hangover and I feel good, like normal, whatever that is. I think at this point I will apply for a medical marijuana card. This beats everything else and I am tired of trying all the remedies that are supposed to work and do not. My kids are laughing at me, they are calling me the “Stoned Grandma.” The marijuana initative will be on the Oregon ballot in November. It will be interesting to see what happens. I sincerely hope yu find something that gives you rest and recuperation. But this has been such a long struggle.

Lady Jane, it sounds like you are making progress. I gave up coffee some years ago, it was not easy. I do some dark chocolate in the am. Other than that my diet is pretty good. I had some Marijuana cookies last night (first time ever). I wasn't sure what to expect. They made me feel mellow and I think it took a while to kick in but I had a good night sleep. I went for a walk first thing this am. So I am happy with all that. It seems that the desire to get a good nights sleep overshadows everything else in my life. my health in general is pretty good. I turned 73 last month and noone can guess my age. It's those Italian genes I guess. It seems that my biggest problems are alergies and insomnia, oh and that growing thing around my middle, must do something about that.

To Lady Jane, thank you for your prompt reply. It is interesting that we can sometimes pinpoint a time when our sleep pattern changed. The birth of a baby, an illness or tragedy. Mine started with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome; I slept fine before then. Sometimes I would have a cup of coffee before bed and sleep blissfully, then it all changed. I even gave up drinking coffee, my favorite drug! But I had to choose sleep or coffee, sleep won out. The last few nights I have done better. I do not allow myself to sleep in. It is so hard to get up and not go back to bed. But I have to stay with this and see if I can turn this problem around. Do you take a dopamine agent for your Parkinson's?

My resetting the clock works some times. When I sleep too late in the am is messes up the whole thing. My body seems to like to sleep in the am. But I need to go to bed at a resonable hour and get up at a good time. I live in a large home with other housemates so I cannot be roaming around at night and wake up people who sleep normaly. I so envy people who can put their head on the pillow and go to sleep.

I have heard from others as to the wonders of Thailand. When they speak of it it is mostley how wonderful and gracious they are. I do not travel much these days because of the insomnia. I am trying to reset my sleep times. Trying to get up earlier in the am so I will be sleepy at bedtime. I am happy that you found something that gives you peace and joy.

Good to read about others who share the same malady. I was sleeping better and now I am backsliding. It is 4:05 am PST and no shuteye so far. I get anxious about sleep and that does not help. Was trying to reset my bio clock with some success, but not now. I took 4Benadryl then two Tylenol PM and still am wide awake. Was out in the sun today walking around the Farmers Market; you would think that would help.

I have a long history of sleep deprivation. I was observed in a sleep study and told I had a very active case of Restless Legs Syndrone. Was prescribed several different meds (Mirapex and Roserum). I had side effects with both. I have neck injury that is better now with accupuncture. I have had episodes of depression in the past, so I am dealing with several problems that make up my insomnia. Gave up coffee, only eat chocolate in the am, got a mood light, new mattress, new pillows, use a fan, use a humidifier, bought a special quilt that regulates your body temp, bought a chill pillow and room darkening drapes. I use decaf tea only. Is there anything I have missed. I was using Halcion .25 mg for sleep with good results. My new doctor took me off of it and sent me to a psycholgist. The psycholigist suggested I get a mood light. I told I had been using one for two years. He also suggested books on CD. I tried that and found myslef wating for the end of the CD. Now I am using a hypnosis CD by Paul McKenna. I played it two times last night and finally fell asleep about 3:30. I dozed for about 1 1/2 hours earlier in the night than was wide awake.
