Ah, nooo! After such an almost-good start, I fell asleep again and didn't hear the alarm clock and slept til noon! 😮
Well, at least I'm rested now, I guess….
January 20, 2013 at 12:03 pm #14502Hey – well done on sleeping through!! That is so brillian!!!
I feel like a parent being proud of their baby for sleeping through it's first night without nightly wake-ups…. haha….
Everything went fine last night in the end – I got out a relaxation CD and did that and fell asleep very nicely…
Don't worry about me too much – I'm fine writing here journal-style while you are merrily off in the land of nod 🙂
I think that's one of the great things about a forum – that you know that no one is having to “be there” for you – they are either there or they aren't…
Cos I could complain about my insomnia to my friends and boyfriend, as I have done in the past, but I don't like to burden them with the BORING details EVERY single day and night…
So I definitely don't want to be a burden on anyone here either – if you know what I mean…?
I totally love your posts, but if you're sleeping great then I have no issue with hearing from you only every 2nd or 3rd day… for example…
I can just go and keep Martin busy – and ask him all my sleep questions and tell him all my sleep worries… haha! 😆
Okay, I am going to try and get this work done now and don't worry about me if I write frazzled posts…. that's just me, being frazzled… AGAIN 😮
I am kind of used to it, I'm afraid… I think freaking out about things occasionally is part of my style and lack of sleep is definitely a freaky topic for me!
Hope you're having a looooovely Sunday!

How have you got on with your contract . . . Did you get it finished in time ?
Well . . . I am getting more sleep than I am awake now . . . Back to normal then ( pre insomnia normal that is ! ). I had a slight snooze yesterday afternoon so I would be able to stay awake to watch my TV programme at 6.30 pm and I managed to stay awake until 9.30 pm which was great considering I am prone to snoozing on the sofa when it is dark and I don't have insomnia. I woke up c 2.20 am and went to bed and would have slept through if my neck wasn't aching . . . Gave it a spritz of Biofreeze and voila I was all COMFTY again !
I am sat here starting my day the decadent Menopawsal Insomniac way and am quite looking forward to going to work today. I have lots to do and really enjoy my lunchtime walk with my friend . . . I am walking to work and back again this week as it is snowing again and I am not taking Bianca out in this . . . At least it should get me fit and it has certainly helped me sleep and you never know . . . If a miracle happens . . . I could even lose a pound or two !
Oh well . . . Time to hump in the bath . . . Have a good day and keeeeeeep sleeping.

January 21, 2013 at 6:10 am #14504Wooooow! I am so happy for you that your sleeping is basically back to normal!
You must be Martin's record for “quick fix insomnia cures”!!!
Well, then I will aim to be the fastest insomniac cured, who's had insomnia for nearly 3 decades… I'm sure there's some record-breaking to do in that category aswell!
Well, my deadline is not til this afternoon, so I've still got a bit of time and am well on track. On the home straight now and not expecting anymore hiccups…
Well done on doing so much walking! It's great excercise, huh? I'm always too lazy to do it – which is why we have that cute dog to stay as often as possible – cos her begging to be taken for a walk gets me up off the sofa every time!
Well, I didn't get any sleep at all last night – but I'm feeling surprisingly calm and collected, given that.
I'd better hurry up and try and finish my work tho, before major tiredness hits!!
Talk later!!

January 21, 2013 at 1:39 pm #14505DONE! DONE! DONE!!!!!
(Well almost…)
I have to tidy up 2 pages of stuff for another customer too, but my HUGE deadline is met and is now behind me… YAY!!!!
Sofa or bed, here I come for a snuggle… (will try not to nap!!!)
Hope you're having fun in the snow Teddy and you're feeling like your old self again now, with normal amounts of sleep in your sleep bank!
XXX Groggy (who was SO tired today from zero sleep, that she got REALLY pukey from sleep deprivation for a while…!) 😮
January 21, 2013 at 3:09 pm #14506WELL DONE and have a SLIGHT SNOOZE TO CELEBRATE . . . . ANOTHER G&T FOR ME !!!
What a great achievement on next to no sleep, you must feel pleased with yourself and I think sleep will come very easily tonight . . . don't worry what time it comes, just enjoy it . . . you deserve it.
The snow is quite thick and it took a bit of walking here this morning and I am not relishing the thought of walking home as Duggie ( the name I game my AWOL ovary . . . a very long story ! ) was playing up on the way here, along with my back but to be honest I would rather grit my teeth than risk bringing Bianca out in this awful weather. It is not that I doubt my ability as a driver it is the idiot WHITE VAN MEN that drive like there is no snow around as it is no problem to them if they have an accident.
Don't think I will take much rocking tonight as I have been really concentrating on travel claims . . . I wish people could add up . . . or at least fill a form in correctly ! Mind you . . . that is why I am on the case but a few straight forward ones would have been light relief this afternoon. I was glad to catch a few mins to check your posts and get a quicky reply in.
Oh well back to it . . . I have left all the dodgy claims until the end which is not a very bright idea after tirying myself out !
Take care, enjoy your snooze and post to you soon.

January 22, 2013 at 11:36 pm #14508Hey there…
I am now finally snuggled in bed… It's been a strange couple of days… Don't even know if I can make heads or tails of them!
Sunday night was the all-nighter… I didn't end up working all night – I was too tired to concentrate at some point – but at about 4:00am, I decided to stay up, rather than risk getting into a really deep sleep and not being in a fit state after 2 hours of sleep…
So Monday I was working and ended up mailing the last documents off at 2:30 pm, which was well inside my deadline.
I did some odds and end then, had something to eat etc, cos I couldn't go straight to sleep with that much deadline adrenaline in my blood.
I fell asleep at about 4:30pm and had a 2 hour nap (deep, comatose sleeping) then trundled off to the supermarket and had dinner. Fell asleep at about 10pm, maybe – but that's a guess. Got woken up by my boyfriend when he got home at 2am and talked a bit and fell back asleep at 4am.
Had my alarm clock set to 6am (trying to stay regular with my wake-up time!) but I slept through it and woke up just after 9am, which I was pretty pleased with. (Got woken up by the phone ringing)
Today was a really weird day – I can't remember much of it. I felt like I was sleep-walking through the day. I didn't do any napping – I managed to avoid that, tho don't know how, really. (At least I *think* I did, but I'm not entirely sure… Maybe I did have another nap during the course of the morning?? But I can definitely say that there were no naps past noon…)
I got some really important stuff organised in the afternoon, which is great – so it wasn't a totally unproductive day… But still a very weird one – definitely massive sleep-withdrawal symptoms still…
What I'm pleased about is that it hasn't felt stressful to be without the “necessary” sleep… Apart from Sunday night, where I freaked myself out, feeling certain that I wouldn't sleep and that I would hence feel crap the next day… Yeah, apart from that it's been amazingly smooth sailing. And felt calm and positive…
So there's definite progress. And the 6am wake ups are getting easier too. There's still a way to go with them, but they are nowhere near as painful as they were at the start…
Right – I should sign off now and get some sleep.
Hope I'm a little more conscious tomorrow!!
Take care and sweet dreams

January 23, 2013 at 6:27 am #14509Hey . . . Hey . . . Hey . . . Who has taken on Insomnia and whooped its sorry **** !
You have done soooo well and sooooo quickly considering the number of years insomnia has been on your shoulders ~ WELL DONE Groggy.
As I have said for a while . . . I now believe that it is mind over matter and the key to our success is leting ourselves accept being awake at what we had previously classed as ' normalised sleeping hours ' . . . without classing it as a failure and putting ourselves back. On paper Iwould guess I am just short of being a true insomniac but in my mind I am okay now. I still wake early doors ( usually between midnight and 2 am ) but just take time for me and watch what I have recorded from when I was asleep early evening or treat myself to a pamper session or a meditation and voila . . . I am back in the land of nod and my sleep bank is toped up nicely. So in simple terms. . . I am an insomniac . . . But I don't care because I have got around it by not being bothered and not having negative affirmations keep me awake !! This is all thanks to Martins tips / this forum and finding a great insomniatic confidant . . . My cyber-insomnia buddy Groggy.
Keep up the good work . . . Dont even think about any slip ups and certainly don't waste time analysing them . . . I think this is where we went wrong before finding Insomnia Land and got so frustrated when our sleep wasn't like everyone else's. WE ARE VERY SPECIAL in our own sweet way and who cares when we sleep so long as we and our nearest and dearest are ok with it.
Take care and look forward to your next post.

January 23, 2013 at 3:32 pm #14510Hey there Teddy,
I am SLOWLY returning to a semblance of my usual self (not that I have not written “normal self” – cos I don't think I *do* normal, even with maximum sleep 😮 )
I have just done a run around the forum inviting everyone to join the Insomnia 2013 thread… so we'll see what comes of that…
Other than that I'm still relatively incommunicado…. When (severe) tiredness hits, my communication skills are always the first thing to fly out of the window and the last thing to return when I recover…
I woke up at 7am today, but rolled over and slept til 10am. Oops. I am vowing to better myself tomorrow.
I'm so happy for you that your nightly waking sessions are being spent as luxuriously as possible. And taping your favourite shows is such a great idea!
Sending you a big insomniac hug, best-cyber-insomnia buddy!!

January 23, 2013 at 3:34 pm #14511Hey,
on another note – what “device” do you use to tape your shows?
I tried buying a “media recorder” late last year, but it turned into a bit of a debacle (will explain if you want) and I returned it.
I'm still hoping to get a new one, but those machines are confusing me and I have no idea what to get and what is useful…
Thank you if you will give me an insomniac's technology lesson!!!! 😆

Now . . . Now . . . no berating yourself for much needed sleep and remember . . . it is in the bank now so you can have more activitiy in the early hours now, plus I know non-insomniacs who get up way after 10 am !
I use Sky to tape my missed programmes which is basically all of the soaps and any other programmes I like to watch after 7 pm . . . Mr M hates most of the programmes I watch so I have to watch them alone so it might just as well be in the wee small hours anyway . . . poor old Insomnia . . . getting pushed to one side for trashy TV !
What a lovely sign off and I throwing a big cyber hug right back at ya x
Take care . . . keeeeeeep awake and post to you soon.
Tired Teddy who is really ready for her walk home x
January 23, 2013 at 11:27 pm #14513Hey Teddy,
Yup, wise insomnia advice as ever!! You're absolutely right.
I'm probably still more scared than you are about slipping back into old, bad insomnia habits, cos insomnia has controlled much of my life for so very long. (Or it has tried to and it's been a struggle to fight it.)
I'm about to head off to sleep and I think I'm tired enough to get some too! ^_^
I just wrote a long post in the 2013 journal, which is for you to read too, obviously. There's a nice cheerleader metaphor in there, that I think you'll enjoy 🙂
I will sign off here for today and get my ZZZs
Thanks for explaining re the Sky thing… I don't think my TV does that… or the cable connection I have… I will just continue accosting everyone who tells me they record their shows and make them explain to me how they do it… haha
Sweet dreams Teddy and have some lovely wakey hours if you do wake up…
Sorry we're not up at the same time anymore, in the middle of the night! But I guess that's the way it's meant to be… 😎
