Hi Groggy
This will be unusually short and sweet as my fingers are refusing to work in co- ordination with my brain this morning and the result is a magnificent ''Allo ''Allo script ! I have just sent an email to my friend and have left the 'A 'A mistooks in and am going to do that on here from now on, just to see when I am at my most tired . . . Don't think I will ever beat the classic . . . ” I am going to hump ( instead of jump ) in the bath ” mistake of yesterday though . . . Never seen Mr M perk his ears and other bits and bobs up so quickly when I told him and I will be sued for disappointment at this rate !
Good for you not getting angry about yesterday . . . . Remember a new regopime ( AKA regime ) takes 4 weeks to become the norm ! I am sad to realise that today will be the last day I will get email from Martin and I cant believe I am at day 14 already as I have really looked forward to getting them and your posts. Martins suggestions have made a real difference and I now view being awake in the night and asleep during the day / early evening as a minor inconvenience and a bit of what I need, rather than it being a big mistake to berate myself over. I fell asleep c 6 pm and was sent to bed by Mr M c 9 pm . . . Snoring again ! And I woke up at midnight . . . So all in all that is 6 hours sleep so well done to me ! I think I am going to accept 3 hours early evening and then 3 hours in bed as my norm and have a pampering session half way through or at the end of my second sleep session . . . Just sprayed lotions and potions to get me to sleep and perk me up . . . No wonder my body clock is confuzzed ! The positive of this wee small hour girly pamper session is that Inhave the softest skin and face and on one of my rare, fully awake moments, a glint in my eye and a spring in my step ! We could add ” Girly Wee Small Hours Pamper Packs ” to our product range !
Well I got the report from the doc yesterday and I am ” officially ” NOT mencol ( my new way of spelling mental so it seems less offensive ! ) so it will be interesting to see how my meeting goes tomorrow now. At least the buffoon from Human Remains is not attending now and the nincompoop who referred me for the mencol assessment has more than a tad of egg on his face. I have picked a lovely outfit for tomorrow . . . It is a dress with a red pattern and a lovely red jacket so as the old adage goes . . . . Let the rag . . . See the bull – would you mess with a menopawsal insomniac, especially if she was wearing red . . . Wonder if he will be wearing white ! I will of course be doing a spectacular job with my hair and make up . . . Just to reassure them that I am bothering with myself and am therefore not depressed plus it will look like I have got an interview for another job . . . I wish !
Time to go now before I throw this flaming iPad at the wall . . . Perhaps we could add a knitted iPad to our portfolio, which is ideal for quietly hurling at the wall on the nights and early mornings when you type all the right letters . . . But not necessarily in the right flaming order !
Hope not seeing a post for a while means you are in the land of nod. I have got an INDUSTRIAL G&T to help with not sleeping and thoughts of my farcical meeting tomorrow !

I'm semi-delirious tired tho – can't write much that would make sense…
Tried getting my best friend who lives in another time-zone to call me up at 6am my time… which would normally be fine, but she's moving house and they've packed away the phone! Bloody heck!
But I will get there… I am now thinking of starting my mornings with a BATH – trying to copy some of your “luxury” ideas…! At least I might do that for as long as the early rising seems such cruel and unusual punnishment… (the bath I mean). I am yet to come up with any other “luxury” ideas that I think will go down well with raving-loony-coma-patient-Groggy-Gal-at-6-am….
Actually, I'm thinking of incorporating some DANCING! How's that for waking a girl up? I just need something TOTALLY electrifying – you know, where you can't keep your bones or your booty still…. where you just GOT to dance…! Just not sure I have enough CDs with that kind of music… I will have to improvise a bit, maybe…

Crikey . . . I have just had a very disturbing vision of a manic insomniac dancing way out of beat and time <€€$$¥¥++*%%%%%%¥¥$$€€>. I used to be an Ice Dancer and represented my county in the Northern Recreational Ice Dance League so I do know a bit about timing . . . Only problem was I always wanted to lead, which was a bit trixy when I also wanted to be the lady – think I seriously should consider schizophrenics R US now !
I always find Abba ( particularly the Mama Mia album ) good for bopping along to as I am painting ( showing my age here ! ) . . . Had a bit of Kylie on and as a consequence ended up suggestively chopping veg for our cassoulet last night . . . This was way before Mr M got home . . . Can't have him getting all excited 2 days on the trot can we !!
Good to have you on board for the luxury wake ups . . . Who needs to worry about not sleeping when you can look forward to a pamper when you get up – No competition insomnia ! Must stop talking to insomnia, otherwise people will think I am mencol !!
How about a nice big pot of your favourite coffee ( or tea if you prefer ) for after your bath . . . Very DeVere Dear ! You could then put on a very glamorous nightie and negligee ( bot of 'Allo 'Allo ) and lather yourself up with luxurious lotions . . . Your eyes will still be insomnia baggy . . . But at least the reso of you will look and feeeeeeel gooooood ! I am thinking of upgrading breakfast on a weekend to Eggs Benedict with a glass of Bucks Fizz . . . Oh heck . . . Looks like I now need Alcoholics Unanimous . . . I hope there is no limit to how many forums one can join !!
Ph well, I will close now for a meditation session and then try another if Incan be bothered, if not the pamper session will start early !

I had just closed my eyes to enjoy a final slight snooze before getting up, after sleeping through 2 meditation sessions and that FLAMMING alarm went off . . . on this occasion I am mad to not have a clock in the bedroom to check before rolling over Rover !
Naughty Tired Teddy . . . you shouldn't complain as this is progress as you are just short of getting sleep in the right part of the day . . . Stand with your hands on your head . . . Simple Insomnia ( Simon ) says <<€€$$##$$€€>> . . .

Let's start a campaign to ban all alarm clocks… I am not on speaking terms with mine either…
Slept in AGAIN today, but thanks to boyfriend calling me, only til 9:40am.
So I'm SLOWLY nearing the 6am mark… haha!
I'm still trying tho!!
Due to unforntunate sleep-in debacle, had no time for dancing today… waaahhhh…

Mind you 9 hours sleep must be contagious as I had it last night . . . in my split shift variant obviously ! I am soooo pleased I have got tomorrow and next Friday as holiday because I must be tired as fell asleep c 6.00 – 10.00 am, tried to stay awake but failed miserablybrhen went to bed and sleped c 11.00 pm to 4.10 am !! Think I have had toooo much sleep now as Inhave got that roo much sleep groggy headache !
I got home yesterday and Mr M had my bath run and the oven on, all ready for me to do my magic and we had an INDUSTRIAL G&T ( think I may add this to our portfolio and call it the INSOMNIACS G&T ! ) while we had our baths and waited for our meal to be ready. We regrouped after our baths and meal . . . Me in my glamorous relaxing outfit . . . and then the romantic mood was ruined . . . when he realised I was on my iPad ! He does hate it if he doesn't have all my attention on the rare occasions I am awake on his awake plain !
Anyway I quickly threw my iPal ( new name for my iPad as it never leaves my side ! ) to one side and all was well as we watched his favourite Steptoe together but then . . . as usual with the UK Gold channel . . . the FLAMMING adverts stopped play . . . Next thing both reclining ends of the sofa were up, I was laid down and as if my magic . . . voila I was asleep and SNOOOOOOOOORING ! Naughty Tired Teddy . . . I had ruined 2 special moments and it wasn't even 6.00 pm !
Think you may have a different idea of ice Dancing career . . . I used to represent my county, no my country and the majority of ice dancers were pensioners !!!!! The real good ice dancers were from the south fortunately so were not in our northern league ! That said I was quite good at it and thoroughly enjoyed it and who knows . . . . if I had started early enough it could have been MISS MENOPAWS and Dean, rather than Torvill and Dean !
To make up for not getting much attention I let him have the COMFTY bye bo's as long as I could and went in c 10.30 pm. He did seem relatively pleased to see me and it even looked like we were going to be able to stay together . . . ie he could fall asleep before I started snoring but alas this was not to be. Don't know what time he did an Elvis as I have no clock to look at but I now have what I call sleep with insomnia because I was laid there hearing everything around me and assumed I was awake but I couldn't hear myself snore which is odd because I am very good at it apparently and EXTREMELY loud !! Interestingly, just lately I have been able to hear myself snore sometimes but this has been when I have felt in a much deeper asleep . . . Not worried about it though !
My bladder woke me up at 4.10 am and I decided to start my pamper session in bed today by relaxing and emailing after refreshing my face with my loveley Estée Lauder tonic and putting my hair in bobby pins . . . I am trying to train my hair into a 1940's style for the big day and it is nice to be straight one day and Curley the next . . . Keep em guessing that's my new motto !
This will be followed by my usual pot of gorgeously strong coffee, a slice of toast with Mr M, a luxury bath and lather down with Angel body lotion followed my more lolling and relaxing. I shall then have breakfast proper . . . Menopawsal porage . . . This is piping hot porage with frozen blueberries and strawberries in while it rests and thickens . . . Sounds strange Inknow but the frozen berries take the intense heat out of the porage and this reduces the chance of a hot flush . . . I still usually have one but it is not as bad . . . Another idea for our product range . . . A Survival Guide for Menopawsal Insomniacs . . . KERCHING . . . This could be a real money spinner me thinks !
Oh well must close . . . Let the real pamper session begin !

January 10, 2013 at 6:08 am #14418The alarm went off at 6am and I was actually concious, tho couldn't motivate myself to get up and start the day, so thank goodness best friend called and verbally kicked my sorry arse out of bed….
Went into the kitchen and skyped for a bit and now I've let her go and prepare her garage sale, before they move house….
So, I dunno what to do now, to stay awake…
Guess I will have a quick check in with the pets to see how they are doing and be back in a sec….

I've had a coffee, checked on pets…
Get I will take Poochy out for a walk around the block once I'm dressed…
Not sure what else to get up to tho….
Guess I could take a bath….. But not feeling very convinced about it at the moment…. Hmmm
My brain is still on LUXURY=BED mode…
I will try doing my “hourly anti-nap” day plan and see…

That was a big round of applause for you getting up just short of 6 am as you said you would.
Doesn't matter if you have a slight snooze before your jog because you need to take small steps remember and try doing it in phases . . . First stage is to get up at 6 am . . . CHECK . . . Second step could be to keep awake to say 8 am . . . Etc . . . Etc. just celebrate your success at stage one today and not worry about anything else.
Istead of doing cold turkey 7 days a week, why not lay in until say 8.00 am Saturday and Sunday . . . It is the weekend after all
Signing off now as iPal is charging Nd I am all scrunched up typing . . .
Looking forward to the next update but before I go . . . .JUST CELEBRATE YOUR SUCCESS TODAY ! . . . What a fantastic first step . . . WELL DONE ! I am so impressed I am going to celebrate with you and have an INSOMNIACS G&T when I get home from work tonight !!!!

Hey I was just thinking – maybe we should expand our Etsy thing to a wake up service just for insomniacs… a personalised one that talks to you gently but insistently (for a max of 10 mins) until you have gotten OUT of bed and are in your kitchen and putting the kettle on….
Cos this morning I found the hardest part was not “gaining consciousness” but making the transition from horzitontal to vertical….
Hm, anyway… What's a bit daunting is that I have to repeat today's miraculous combination of “early rising and no naps” again tomorrow – and on the day after tomorrow and on the day after that…. Gaah! I mean, I would hate to think I was letting the side down by not following through… but it seems so daunting – like yes, fair enough, as a “one-off” it can be done… but day after day?? Oh gosh! 😮
Well, in the assumption that it will get easier with time, I will take it one sleep-deprived day at a time… 😉

I've had to work this evening and last, which was ironic, because they were the first two nights for ages, that I've actually been dozing off in the evening…
I am SO curious to see how tomorrow morning at 6am will go… I wonder if I'll be semi-conscious? Will best friend remember to ring?
So do you get that “early morning insomnia”? (Cos as you might have guessed, I sure don't!!!)
Or do you actually sacrifice and hour of sleep that you could have for having your luxurious, slow start to the day?
Cos if I had morning insomnia, then I think sure, I'd make that awake time as nice as possible…
But for me it's weighing up 1 hour of DESPERATELY needed/ craved sleep VS a hot bath (or whatever else) that I could just as easily have any other time I pleased… (You can see where I'm heading with that line of argument, can't you, haha)
Either way, my intention is to get up at 6am so I can see what happens with my sleeping pattern as a result.
Well, I'm going to read a bit in a book that arrived from Amazon today and hopefully I'll fall asleep over that…

I am no longer and insomniac . . . I am now an awake-iac as I cant seem to keep my flamming eyes open !!
I did stay awake until c 7.30 pm but then snuggled down on the sofa until 12.30 am . . . Then I cheesed a very grumpy Mr M off on arrival at the comfty bye bo's . . . He stomped off in a mood and I am now left vexed and just short of awake <€€€$$$¥¥¥¥¥¥¥$$$€€€>. Thank goodness for Insomnia Land and My Pal Grogzzzzz
Well done you staying awake, having evening meetings and then not been mad when it is time you should be asleep . . . That is formally known as PROGRESS . . . WELL DONE !
I am writing a book on our insomnia experiences and Etsy ideas and would obviously like you to be my cyber ' sleeping ' partner. This is primarily starting as a vehicle to get insomnia out of my head and on paper and to help others . . . Is there a Mother Teresa's R US forum do you think . . . If not another one for the product range me thinks ! If you are interested and want to know more send me a private message with your email address and I will email you my ideas et al and we can get collaborating.
It may go nowhere and will probably never even get finished ( especially given the hours I am now sleeping ) but I thought it would make an excellent wee small hours project, or after 2 days and nights of MEGA SLEEP possibly a ' fit it in when I can project '. I am loosely basing it on the Menopawsal Insomniacs experience but you are a lady so that counts and your contributions would be grately received and appropriately compensated when we go PUBLIC . . . Just think . . . This time in 25 years ( time it will take to finish and publish ) we could be decrept millionaires !!!
You never know . . . We could do for Menopawsal Insomniacs what 50 Shades of Grey did for desperate housewives ( and Ann Summers ! )
I have got 20 chapter titles already and loooooads of ideas so . . . Keep writing . . .
Typical . . . My mind is whizzing with ideas now and I don't want to sleep but that is okay As I already have just short of 5 hours in the ' sleep bank '

Got up a 7am again today and feeling very proud of myself… It's getting a tiny bit easier with each passing day, it seems…
Not exactly in “enjoyable” territory yet!!! But starting to reach the “there are worse forms of torture” territory, so thank the Sleep Godess for thath, huh?
Well, I will try to kick start the rest of my sorry excuse for a brain into gear and report back later when fully conscious 😮
