      Hi all,

I have just started on my recovery journey, I am befriending wakefulness and all that brings, and I do think that my hyperarousal is reducing. So much so that I can now nap in the day if I rest, which previously I couldn’t do because of the hyper arousal.

I get the impression that there are many different views on taking naps.

Personally, I feel reassured that my body can do this again, but I’m not sure if I should be doing this? ( I would just like to say that I was always someone in the past that would nap if I wanted too) Think this is from when my children were small.

      What are your thoughts?

Naps might work for you and might not. If I get really sleepy I take me an afternoon nap, especially a 30 minute power nap or even an hour some times. I think everyone is different and you will have to give it a try. I am sure it is best to not take naps but I get so sleepy sometimes I have to and it has not bothered me at all. I go to bed same time and wake up same time. My hours are 12 until 6 and I rest until 7 am before I get up.

You haven’t known until you tried. So why not just take it and see what happens? You could always make changes if they don’t turn out well. Sleep should be relaxing and fun.

Also, your past history is a very good guide. There is no reason to think anything has changed. Only your thoughts about sleep might change but the ability to sleep never changes. Good luck and best wishes.

I try not to unless setting a timer for 20 or 30 minutes, but sometimes they just happen because I am very tired. Before having insomnia the same thing happened and I often napped after switching on the TV so really it’s not surprising that it continues to happen now.
I fight it by taking up my knitting.
