✓ Clientthanks very much. Martin. Very useful
Johnb
✓ Clientlots to ponder there, Martin! Thanks for your thoughtful response
Johnb
✓ Clientthanks for your reply, Bobbi. Good to hear that you feel that this is resolving for you.
Ive/i’d spent so much time in a seperate space that i feel its been a form or neurosis and a cause of anxiety to consider returning to sharing a bed again.
I’ve returned for 4 nights now and night 2, with only a small amount of time passing in bed awake, i shifted rooms- my path of least resistance.
Last night, night 4, id just learnt the AWAKE protocol and rather than shifting rooms, i practiced the exercise with the plan to watch some netflix but was surprised to find, next morning, id fallen asleep quite soon after doing the exercise.
This is a major progress for me!! Not just in being able to do further work with wakefullness but also being able to remain where i was, in the master bedroom!!
I feel some confidence to set up now and not feel i have to shift rooms when things get tough…Johnb
✓ Clienti use a free ” 3 good things” app to do mine. It sends me a reminder alarm to do it too which is a bonus

✓ Clienti spent 2 years taking 30mg of Mirtazapine for sleep anxiety and insomnia and then spent 2 years doing a hyperbolic taper from 30mg to 0.4mg, finishing in November 2025.
I came to Martin’s free course in January as i developed severe insomnia, 6 weeks after stopping. It definitely helped.
6 months later, I’ve recently enrolled in this course after still having periods of insomnia. I think after you’ve stopped meds for sleep, they can still having lingering withdrawal symptoms. particularly with Mirtazapine.Johnb
✓ Clientthanks and yes, i agree. I went ahead and enrolled
Johnb
✓ Clientthanks for your wisdom, Martin and i am very happy to start your 6 week program as of yesterday
Johnb
✓ ClientLike you, Wendy, i did the free course and now just joined this 6 week course and right at the very beginning, coming to the forum before everything else.
I am not much younger than yourself (62) and when sleep is going well i allow 10pm to 6am for sleep and seem to be asleep for all that 8hrs so im not yet sure what to make the sleep window as i sometimes get nights of zero or few hours sleep. I guess this is what this course is about- to find out all that stuff!!
I wish you success in overcoming your insomnia 🙂Johnb
✓ Clientthanks Martin!!
I now have in place a friend who can give me a lift to work should i need it.
Just having that in place has made me feel a lot more accepting about lack of sleep and ive actually been sleeping a lot better since! Hence, at this stage, i haven’t missed any work days for a week now ( i’m a teacher) and if i have had low sleep, ive decided to drive in/to work without issues.cheers mate

✓ Client5am is a fantastic time to wake up! Its a quiet time, before the sun rises and its a perfect time for morning walks as the sun rises, meditation, yoga, etc.
Maybe you could consider turning what you percieve as a negative into a positive? cheersJohnb
✓ Clientthanks Chee2308 and sleep for your replies.
Yes, I am starting to take a more carefree attitude towards sleep for the last few days and this really seems to be working- already I am feeling things turn around.
I quite enjoy my middle of night wake ups- ” severance” on appletv is a great show!!Johnb
✓ Clientthanks Martin.
Yes, the intent being to get some recovery from poor sleep but, watching more of your videos, I can certainly see this could then lead to there not being enough ” sleep hunger”.
thanks again -
