Unfortunately I don't have any specific tips or advice to offer regarding the sleep walking, but I did want to welcome you to Insomnia Land.

When did the sleep eating start? Was it before/after you were diagnosed with insomnia and began taking the sleeping meds?

Congratulations on finding a real sleep doctor – they are few and far between.

What strategy have you and your doctor created to help improve your sleep? I'd be interested to know if we're seeing a difference since you managed to find a sleep disorder specialist.

We have another member from Las Vegas – you may want to introduce yourself to wonderhussy.

Welcome to Insomnia Land, Cally. At the very least, now you've found us you get to know that you aren't suffering alone. You have the support of all of us.

It sounds as though you've pinpointed the cause of your insomnia (stress/anxiety) and know of at least one or two bad habits that aren't helping you sleep (get the TV and phone out of your bedroom)!

Have you tried relaxation techniques such as meditation? Some basic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques may also be helpful (like getting out of bed if you don't fall asleep after 30 minutes).

Take a look around and feel free to get involved in any relevant discussions. I look forward to reading more of your posts and getting to know you better.

Are you currently on any insomnia medication and trying to wean yourself off or change your dosage? Rebound insomnia is particularly common in individuals taking, or trying to come off, certain sleeping pils.

Welcome to Insomnia Land, Jane – and thank you for introducing yourself.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your husband, particularly in those circumstances.

Did the insomnia start when he died, or did you have trouble sleeping before that? Have you spoken to a doctor specifically about your sleep problems?

I am sure you'll find plenty of information and support both here on the forums, and over at the Insomnia Land blog. I look forward to getting to know you and reading more of your posts in the future.
