★ AdminWelcome to Insomnia Land, Snookie! Let us know how the focussed breathing goes – it's a shame that your original doctor didn't offer you anything but sleeping pills.
Since hypnosis has seemed to work well for you, it would be great if you could contribute your experience to this thread on the subject: http://www.insomnialand.com/topic/222-hypnosis/
Thank you for introducing yourself, and I hope to get to know you better as I read more of your posts.
Take care!

★ AdminWelcome to Insomnia Land, Alice. Thanks for introducing yourself, and then coming back after taking a browse around the forums. I trust your initial experience of the community was a positive one.
In my research for the Insomnia Land blog, I often come across mentions of insomnia and menopause – yet there seems to be no accepted remedy; it's simply an association and there appears to be no widely accepted cause-effect theory.
If you do speak to your doctor about going onto HRT specifically to see if it helps your sleep, please let us know what happens. I'd be really interested to know what your doctor thinks, and, if you are prescribed HRT, whether it helps you get to sleep. Perhaps you could start a dedicated discussion topic for this in the insomnia forum.
Anyway, I better draw this post to a close. I look forward to reading more of your posts and getting to know you better!

★ Admin'ExhaustedMichelle' wrote on '02:I had a wonderful and unexpected 6 night run of 6+ hours of solid sleep during the past week! I felt amazing and productive and NORMAL during the day! Tonight I was ripped out of a solid sleep at 1am by a horrible nightmare and have been unable to fall back asleep since. I guess I should be thankful for all the sleep I did manage to get in the past week.
Yikes – that was a good run! What did you do to get such a decent amount of sleep? Any lifestyle/medication/routine changes?

★ AdminThanks for sharing the link, Jita. Did you try any of the remedies mentioned?
I'm pretty sure you didn't imply that those on prescription drugs should try homeopathy as it's a better treatment option – most of us here are sleep deprived so from time to time we'll take things the wrong way and it looks as though that may be what happened in this instance. In fact, I often write about alternative remedies on the Insomnia Land blog – if only we could find something that worked for all of us, eh?
I'd be interested in hearing from other members on the subject of homeopathic treatments since I think it's something a lot of people have researched.

★ AdminWelcome to Insomnia Land, Jem! Can you tell us more about your insomnia? It would help us to help you. How long have you suffered with insomnia? Can you describe a typical night for us? Have you sought medical advice?
Enjoy your stay, and I look forward to getting to know you.

★ AdminThanks for sharing. I'd be interested to hear whether anyone else has had a positive experience using Zopiclone. I'm moving this thread to the insomnia forum, rather than the introductions area so that more members will come across it.
It's nice to hear a more positive story every now and again.

★ AdminWelcome to Insomnia Land, Reebooka and thank you for taking the time to introduce yourself. Sounds like a sleep therapist would be a good idea – I hope you'll keep us updated on how that works out for you. What has been the most effective treatment you've tried up to now?

★ AdminWelcome aboard, Bob. Most of our members are insomniacs rather than individuals suffering from OSA – that said, we welcome all members who struggle with sleep. How is your sleep now that you're using the CPAP, meds and sleepwave device?

★ AdminWelcome to Insomnia Land, Marc. You're right – you're not alone, even though it can feel like it. We're hear to support you during this struggle and we understand the challenges you're facing.
Is there no way you can get a doctor's note to give you a few more days off work without worrying about your job security? Have you tried having an honest discussion with your employer about your sleep problems? Who knows, perhaps they'll be more accommodating than you'd expect.
Perhaps you could push your doctor for some other treatments that may not rely on pharmaceutical intervention. Have you heard of CBT for insomnia? Does the tinnitus itself keep you awake?

My wife actually experiences this. Sometimes she twitches so strongly it gives me a start. She sleeps fine once she's asleep, though.

I'd be really interested in hearing more about how the brain therapy works out for you, since I've covered it a couple of times on the blog.
http://www.insomnialand.com/blog/could-brainwave-optimization-cure-your-insomnia/
Perhaps you'd be so kind as to start a new discussion topic about it when you begin the treatment?
