Thanks for coming up with this topic, Bobbie – I think it's a great idea.

As you have probably figured out from the blog, there is no miracle cure that works for everyone. However, I like to share any new ideas I come across so people can try them. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.

I am only one person. I'm hoping that we can harness 'crowd power' and really push forward on this area in Insomnia Land – so please follow Bobbie's lead and share what you've tried, or any ideas you've heard 🙂

    Great idea, Yam!

Good Times – Knowing that I picked the right people to get this community off the ground.

Good Times – Looking forward to a weekend away at Lake Placid with my wife for Valentines Day.

Bad Times – It being absolutely freezing in my apartment right now.

    I am pretty lucky.

The Hurt Locker was good, too. and Up was the best kid movie I've seen in a long time.

The Hurt Locker took me by surprise. I saw it on the plane on my last trip back to the UK and it was much better than I thought it would be. Portrays the conflict in Iraq from a new angle, which was interesting.

Up was great – as much of a visual treat as Avatar, I'd say (well… nearly)!

Fortunately, I recently discovered I have a half brother who is German! That gives me a perfect excuse to travel that way again, much to my wallet's chagrin. I've never heard of some of the palces you mentioned, Martin, but Australia is high on my list of Places To Go Before I Die.

Australia is beautiful – especially Western Australia, which hardly anyone visits. People tend to hit the East Coast – Sydney, Great Barrier Reef, etc. However, I'd recommend flying into Perth or Darwin, getting a car and just driving all the way along the West Coast. You'll see more kangaroos than people. You'll have a beautiful reef all to yourself (no tourists) and you can swim right out to it, rather than having to get a boat as you do for the Great Barrier Reef.

I have never been anywhere out of Canada. In Canada I have been to Quebec, NFLD, PEI, NB, I wish to go to Alaska someday.

I loved my time in Canada. I spent about 6 months in Toronto working, then travelled to Quebec City, Ottawa, Banff, Edmonton, Vancouver and Victoria. Victoria was amazing – I wasn't really blown away by Vancouver, but a short hop on a ferry makes a world of difference.

I couldn't resist going up to Alaska, either and managed to do a good tour combining planes, trains and automobiles, criss-crossing Alaska and the Yukon in Canada! It was an adventure!

You know what, I wish I could dance! After a few drinks I like to do some odd movements, but I wouldn't call it dancing – nothing like the stuff you see on Dancing With the Stars or similar.

How did you learn to dance? My wife is into Latin Dance – toyed with the idea of going to lessons together. Maybe we'll get around to it one of these days!

    What a great thread, Franky!

I'm not much of a writer so don't have anything to share – which is odd, as English was my favourite subject at school! Maybe I'll come up with something to share in a few days 🙂

Inglorious Basterds is awesome, and was the first film I got on Blu-Ray 😎

Agreed – that was a great film! Brad Pitt is such a good, versatile actor. It could have been so easy for him to end up typecast, but he managed to avoid that. Thank goodness!

I might have to see that one, then. I recently saw Law Abiding Citizen and thought it was great. 2012 sucked major balls, as did Angels and Demons, I thought. Of course, I read the book first; that makes a huge difference. I also adored Inglorious Basterds.

I am yet to see a movie that I preferred to the book. It's just not the same – at the end of the day, when you watch a film based on a book you're watching someone else's interpretation. I think that's why it's impossible to please the bookworm!

I thought 2012 was OK – the story was dull, but it was alright to switch the brain off and just look at the scenery for a couple of hours. Similar opinion on Avatar.

I'm not sure to be honest, I know my Cuddle Bunny wouldn't want to watch Watchmen, she hates all those “super-heroey” movies! I think I'd recommend The Dark Knight more than Watchmen for people not massively into the genre.

This is a film I really want to see, although I think I'll be going to see The Wolfman in the next week or so.

I really enjoyed The Dark Knight, so maybe I'll give Watchmen a try. The trailer for The Wolfman looked good – I'm tempted to see that, too!

    Welcome to the gang, Lindsay!

I've never been to Texas, but want to get out there someday. Playing 'spot the difference' with dust bunnies sure sounds like an original insomnia cure to me – I think you should post that in the insomnia section 😉

Hey – what's it like having your birthday on Independence Day? Is it annoying, or even more of a party? I've always wondered.
