★ AdminI went through a short term period of insomnia but was able to overcome it. That being said, I still suffer from the odd bout of sleeplessness, but not enough for me to refer to myself as an insomniac.
I absolutely believe it's possible to improve the quality of your sleep regardless of how long you've been suffering from sleep deprivation. Keep at it and don't give up.

★ AdminWelcome aboard, Ted!
A common frustration of insomnia is watching your spouse sleep soundly on command whilst us insomniacs lie awake and wonder how on earth they do it. Jealousy and anger is perfectly normal!
You seem to have a positive outlook, which will no doubt help you improve the quality of your sleep – indeed, many other members find insomnia has unleashed their creative sides so perhaps sleep deprivation isn't all bad after all!
I cover meditation and sound therapy in the sleep training – so keep following those emails.
Take care of yourself and I look forward to reading more of your posts 🙂

★ AdminWelcome to Insomnia Land, Debra.
You know, a lot of members here who have been to sleep clinics didn't find them overly helpful – so you definitely are not alone in that regard. As Groggy suggests, it would seem that sleep clinics are only really beneficial when you suffer from physical sleep issues such as sleep apnea.
Don't give up though – you'll get plenty of support and advice here in the forums.
Keep in touch and take care!

★ AdminWelcome to Insomnia Land and thanks for introducing yourself.
I'd love to know more about the biofeedback/neurofeedback – perhaps you could start a new discussion topic describing your experience with this type of treatment? I am sure a lot of our members would find it very useful and interesting.
I look forward to reading more of your posts and getting to know you better.

★ AdminYou know you need more sleep when you think 3:01 is a cable channel and not the current time.

★ AdminThanks for sharing, Groggy – I am sure many others reading this seek comfort in your posts. One of the biggest frustrations of insomnia is the feeling of isolation. At Insomnia Land, you're among a lot of support and understanding.
Normally, it's a good idea to try avoiding daytime naps – the more 'sleep pressure' you can build, the more likely you are to regain a 'normal' sleep routine.
That being said, it's all about what works for you and what makes you feel good.
No lectures here – just understanding.

★ AdminWelcome to Insomnia Land – if you got this far, then your application was approved! I apologize that you didn't get a confirmation email. Maybe it was late and it slipped my mind, or perhaps it went to your junk folder by mistake.
The most important thing is you made it – so thank you for joining us and introducing yourself.
Oh, and Happy New year!

★ AdminMost sleeping drugs here don't come particularly well recommended. It tends to be a scenario of the lesser of two evils – either you live with the effects of sleep deprivation or pop the pills and get some semblance of sleep in return for a drug hangover and grogginess the next day.
If you take a search through this section of the forum, you'll see quite a few medications mentioned but I'll post this discussion in the next insomniac bulletin and hopefully some more members will chime in with their experience of specific medications.
It'll certainly be helpful to draw the various discussions into one central 'resource'.

★ AdminYou're probably best off starting a new discussion thread regarding klonopin – new discussion subjects with their own topic will get the most views and are likelier to get a response.
Do you suffer from anxiety/panic attacks or was the klonopin prescribed solely for your insomnia?

★ AdminAre you referring to the color green, or the environmentally friendly green?
If it's the color:
A couple of years ago I wrote about research that found green light resets our internal body clocks, which can affect our sleep.
Here's the blog post: http://www.insomnialand.com/blog/green-light-may-be-influencing-your-insomnia/
Here's the original news report: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/health/2010-05-13-sleep13_ST_N.htm
As for the environmentally friendly green – I would imagine LED lightbulbs affect sleep just as much as regular bulbs since they expose us to artificial light, thus affecting our body clocks. If this is the angle you meant, can you point me to the study – I'd be interesting in learning how the authors of the study found LED lightbulbs to me more damaging to sleep than regular lightbulbs or artificial light.
