I miss Tim Horton's. I always used to be in there to get my large double double. I don't take sure in my coffee anymore, though.

Actually, I just remembered there are a couple of Tim Horton's in the city here – I think I need to try one and compare 😉

Hi! Yep, have always written my best stuff at night. I'm just more awake? I wonder if it's hereditary, actually, because my mom and my uncle are the same. What do you think?

I've been doing the magazine for nine years this year (since I was 15 — and started in the middle of one sleepless night!)and it's going really well! It's a lot of fun, and I think it's just what I'm cut out for. There's nothing else I'm so comfortable with — I'd love to make it into a career. I guess it is in some ways, but it doesn't pay and it probably never will. Still! You can't do things just for the money! 😉

Yes, my husband is Welsh — kind of! He grew up in Brixton, so he has the weirdest accent. It's kind of Welsh-cockney-canadian and a lot of people thing he's Australian.Pretty funny! So what part of Wales is your friend from?

Exploring! Yes — as much as possible, which is, unfortunately, very little. All over Wales, and I've never seen or imagined a place as beautiful as north Wales. Haven't made it to Scotland yet, but went to Hadrian's Wall. Also Ireland, London millions of times, Nottingham, Sheffield, Devon, and north Cornwall. And France, once. I wish I could travel more. I love being a tourist.

and 8pm – 2am is exactly right! I'm actually working on the magazine right now! (Well, kind of! LOL)

That's amazing – you started a magazine at the age of 15?! I wouldn't even know where to start!

I can't remember exactly where my friend is from – it's somewhere near Cardiff. We used to visit Cardiff quite often, actually as we used to have relatives out there. I was young at the time, but I remember it would always start raining as soon as we crossed the Severn Bridge!

I have a friend who lives in the North of the country but I haven't had a chance to visit yet – I've heard it's beautiful though. Have you managed to get down to Cornwall or Devon yet? You're pretty close – it's beautiful down there, too.

I write junk like this: http://www.zombiephiles.com/zombie-survival-guide/zombie-survival-stay-home-mom

I have always had a fascination with apocalypse survival, but I was never a Y2K nut.

I've actually written other articles for various websites, but the zombie stuff is more fun.

Before you write me off as insane from lack of sleep, my other hobbies include crocheting, photography and travel.

    I have so many interests, I'm never bored, but I'm a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none.

That is absolutely brilliant! Maybe we'll have to get you to write a zombie survival guide for insomniacs!

You know what, Bobbie I was just about to post something almost identical to this. I wonder if we read the same person's tweet?! 😕

Insomnia comes with a lot of dangers (which most people don't realise) – I think this topic can be a great way of sharing these dangers, reducing them, and getting to know members better by understanding what they have been through.

I look forward to seeing this discussion progress.

I mainly write for clients – anything from corporate brochures, web content, press releases, articles and educational materials (I'm an ex TEFL teacher). Unfortunately my own writing has taken a bit of a back seat due to time restraints but I want to get started on the novel this year!

Does it feel good to be writing, or does it feel different when you're doing it for a client? I wonder whether it feels like more of a chore when given specific topics and subjects as you have less artistic freedom.

I've not played any of the MGS sequels – just the very first one on the PlayStation. I started travelling shortly afterwards and never owned a PlayStation since – and I believe these titles are exclusive to that platform.

I'm a one console man now – and that console is the Wii 😉

I remember Metal Gear Solid on the PlayStation One. It was the first game that truly blew me away. Nothing has compared since… apart from maybe the Resident Evil franchise.

Welcome to the community, Jess and thank you for introducing yourself.

So are you married to a welshman? We have an American friend here in New York who is dating a welsh guy. He has been living here for about ten years now and has pretty much lost his accent – he sounds like he's from Boston!

How long has your magazine been going for? Starting something from scratch like that is admirable. I know that a few of our members here are keen writers, so you're definitely amongst others that share your interests.

Do you find the weather/amount of sunlight effects your sleep habits? I have seasonal affective disorder and I've always noticed a difference, and then it's different again in the UK where the winter nights are even longer and it rains pretty constantly.

That's an interesting issue – it would be great if someone could start a discussion topic on that subject in the insomnia forum.

I remember reading about how to pick the right type of music to listen to when trying to fall asleep. I think you've all just proved there is no such thing as one 'right' type that works for everyone.

However, I have read that you should choose something you are already very familiar with. Otherwise, your brain will remain active as it listens to the words and sounds. When you listen to music you're already familiar with, it helps your brain relax (and hopefully helps you sleep).

When you're listening to podcasts, are they new episodes, or ones you've already heard before? Would be interested in seeing evidence (for or against) the theory I just shared above.

A think a lot of cases of insomnia are triggered by anxiety and stress. What gets a reaction from me is when I hear people say insomnia is ALWAYS a symptom of stress and anxiety.

I have spoken to people who consider themselves very UNstressed, and relaxed. Yet they still suffer from insomnia. I bet it would be interesting if someone started a new discussion topic asking people what they feel the trigger for their insomnia is. Would be good to see how many attribute it to stress, how many attribute it to something else (and what) and how many people just don't have a clue!!
