I've heard that Vitamins B6 and B12 can cause difficulty in sleeping – but I've only seen this mentioned once, so I am not sure how huge of an issue it is.

    Hi Rooz

I wrote about PMS and insomnia once before on the blog:

    http://www.insomnialand.com/blog/the-link-between-pms-and-insomnia/

Most of the time though, I hear of links between insomnia and menopause. Here is one blog post you may find of interest:

As for treatment options (including bioidentical progesterone cream):

    Another Cream:

I hope this helps. It would be good to see other members chime in on this issue, too.

Welcome to the forums. Can you remember exactly when your insomnia began? If you know the trigger, it can often help when looking for a cure (or some relief at the very least).

I think insomnia has a lot of connections to other parts of the body and mind – that's one of the reasons why there's no universal insomnia cure.

Interesting stuff – thank you for sharing. I took a quick look at our blog archives, and only see cortisol mentioned twice. Once in terms of weight gain due to higher levels of cortisol being present when sleep deprived: http://www.insomnialand.com/blog/the-consequences-of-insomnia/ and once briefly associating cortisol with stress: http://www.insomnialand.com/blog/adaptogens-may-be-the-natural-insomnia-cure-youve-been-looking-for/

Well my wife and I were passing the movie theater recently and grabbed a matinee showing of the new American Pie movie. We only saw this one as it had the original cast – it was OK, I think my wife enjoyed it more than I did. I thought it was interesting to see how they placed the characters some ten years or so after the original movie; their careers, lifestyles etc.

Not me! I am more interested in the fact Human Centipede 2 is on Netflix Instant Play now. My wife refuses to watch it, so I still haven't seen it… yet!

I LOVE Graham Masterton! Having said that, I haven't read any of his books for at least five years. Must rectify that soon – and I don't think I've read The Heirloom, so maybe I'll give that a go.

I think it's difficult to be both an employee and a small business employer these days – both face challenges and difficulties (and for similar reasons).

I don't think we can necessarily say that times are harder for employees than they are for employers – since many small business owners are struggling and facing real hardships (just as employees are).

Don't apologize for venting or rambling – that's part of the reason why Insomnia Land exists! I am self employed, but fortunately (in my opinion!) I have no employees. I can only imagine the headache and stress!

Maybe you could promote one of your trustworthy staff members and get them to manage the staff for you – even if it's just whilst you're away on holiday? Then you could concentrate on managing your business rather than the people that work there!

A short time ago I was getting a good sleep (6 hours) for a few nights in a row. Then it all went sour. I either wake up time and time again all night fretting about one thing or another. Or I wake up at 4:30am and can't get back to sleep. This doesn't seem to be related to my job (which it has in the past big time!) but it started when I started a volunteer job helping out at a little farm/horse stable. I'm getting more exercise and fresh air than I was for a while, but this doesn't seem to be the major factor in my latest sleep problem. I'm getting into the being afraid to go to bed thing again. I take 3 different sleeping pills and with the lousy sleep I get even with the pills I don't see going off them any time soon. What I don't understand is how can doing an activity that I really want to do, getting fresh air and more exercise make my sleep worse? Any ideas would help.

I think for many of us, that's actually a cause of our insomnia – the fear of it striking. I don't know if I've asked you this before, but have you looked into cognitive behavioral therapy?

Any idea why you went through the positive stretch of good sleep? At least that proves you are capable of sleep!
